Does anyone know of any?

I'm looking for a 7" or above tablet that has the ability to make calls. Most don't and apparently many of those that do are only able to direct the audio to a speaker, not to an "earpiece".

I have looked at this one, which does not mention any phone capability, until you look in the Q&A, where one customer says it does not, followed by an Argos staff member saying it does. Sadly, Argos CS cannot confirm whether it does or not.

Why not buy a low cost telephone for making phone calls and only use the tablet for "internet" activity.

If nothing else a phone snatcher will not get an expensive tablet with all your personal data but instead just get a phone with maybe a few phone numbers and messages

Thanks, fellas.

bernard I currently have a Huawei MediaPad X2, which is a 7" smartphone. I need a large screen because it's easier on my eyes.
Just eyeing up a potential replacement.

Motman I need the capability for calling when away from WiFi.

I have an Asus Zenpad but it's only 8" so not much bigger.
They do a 10" - Asus ZenPad 10 Z301ML 4G
Look for the 4G in descriptions.

I believe the Huawei is better so if they don't do a bigger one then ...

There are phones with large font and large buttons. Intended for senior people they are also good for people with visual imparement.

Google found MAXCOM Comfort MM462 2G which I think is the phone a friend uses ( or it is very similar ) because it has a large font that she can easily read. She has mentioned that there is a phone that speaks the numbers but no information about it.

I've honestly never felt the need to own an iPad because I can't see why, if reading is all you're doing, you would need such a powerful bit of kit.

eReaders are pretty fit for purpose, although I have found them to be unreliable when trying to convert different file formats - often there will be font errors or problems with the font size. Reading is all you can do, so there's less risk of getting distracted. I doubt that much reading would get done on an iPad with the temptation of web access within a few clicks.

Start looking around for a geek who can convert an existing tablet to work as a 'phone as well?
Might be a better area for you to research, than looking for something that (it appears, anyway) no mainstream manufacturer would ever be likely to build?

Still don't know if the above would make the tablet a 'phone, but I guess that it would enable VOIP calling away from wi-fi?
