Hi

Can anyone advise ways to hide the cables on front of house?

I was thinking of 2 hanging pots for small flowers??

Have the cables come through the wall into the rear of the light.

Indoors bury them in the walls like any other cables.

Unless you are suggesting that one might install concealed cables in a way which does not comply with the regulations, then surely "like any other cables" can only mean in compliance?

Asking BAN what would would be the easiest option to give concealed cables outside a safe zone compliance.

A plasterdepth box in line with the drop with a blank plate on top.

No, because for an accessory to create a zone for cables those cables have to be connected to it.

If you need a concealed cable <50mm deep and there isn't "naturally" an accessory to create a zone for it then earthed mechanical protection is the way to go.

Your suggestion would be compliant if the box contained a joint in the cable.

It was a while ago I last spoke to Paul Cook but he agreed with me that cables could be protected thus.

Then he should arrange for the Wiring Regulations to be changed.

Unless that was perhaps a very long while ago, then, as has been implied, I don't think that BS7671 would agree ...

Where the cable is connected to a point, accessory or switchgear on any surface of the wall or partition, the cable may be installed in a zone either horizontally or vertically, to the point, accessory or switchgear.
Some people might wish to argue but I reckon that "connected" means connected.

Kind Regards, John
