Opinion On Legality of Lockdown

DP: I don't believe you answered my questions....

Do you feel the police have been acting in a lawful measured manner in regard to lockdown and that their actions are perfectly acceptable?

Or can you accept that they have acted outside the law?
Some individual cops yes made errors..But not a """police state formed to terrorise the public""" FFS..How many priks do you think deliberately flout the law? Many laws?

Seriously, I don't know you, but I can stop a car in 6 foot at 20mph and I don't drive brand new super safe vehicles.
Including thinking distance? Reaction Time On a wet road.? In the dark??? And the child is 5 foot in front? Dead.....Then what?..Just stick to the effin speed limit.

Pollution depends on fuel usage / rpm of engines as the things are pumps. Higher rpm does pumps more air through but pollution depends on fuel use as well

Getting to even 20mph can be a problem in London. It can be used as a form of traffic flow regulation mostly used on motorways. ;) I have my doubts but they do reckon it works.

Video - an idiot. I stopped as soon as I heard that a law isn't a law. Infringements on public liberty don't really relate. It all depends on the reason. Say for instance murder was no longer a crime, we could all go around killing each other. Not a good idea ;) even though it appeals to me at times so a law is introduced. In this case some would be killing others.

Police often need to clarify new laws to apply them as required so generally there can be problems when they first come out. This one is ideal for that. Some parts are ambiguous and they are the ones that have caused problems.

Get stroppy with a cop and they will bite back if they can - surprise, surprise. There is an easy answer to that, don't. Your not going to "win" anyway and they could do you for just doing that.

Lol...Always the same arguments....Speeding etc..People die but they are not ""proper criminals""
totally agree

the reason for the blanket lockdown is that is is a collective effort, if everybody observes it then it stops the virus spreading......of course some police may be heavy handed and may get the law wrong in regards to coronavirus lockdown -but the focus of complaint should be on the idiots not following the rules not the police trying to enforce them.

Maybe not all share your ability...You think road laws are set up to annoy irritate and collect money rather than safety...Heaven help us.

Good points. V Well made.

I've never suggested getting stroppy with a cop. But neither should you roll over just because they tell you to do something.

Believe it or not, many cops tell you do or say things that they have no right to demand you do. "You have the right to remain silent", remember?

But the police like to get you to chat so you can self-incriminate. They also like to try and find out who you are. Even when you've done nothing wrong.

They have had a pretty liberal attitude on speed at times for instance 90mph was ok on some roads providing people were driving sensibly. When that was common on motorways they were told to stop allowing it.

So called Safety Cameras are another matter. Used to enforce the law. Usually when they think speed has built up to much or just well better do a few.

:) I pointed out to our local MP that the reductions they made in road accidents timed in really well with Volvo's decision to fit high rear brake lights quickly followed by others. Volvo knew they had changed this as they made way way to many rear end panels and spares that year. Changes to ABS functioning probably had an impact as well.

Maybe one was bored. When stopping cars they can be in the mood to play snooker - not a good idea to drive a black one. Mind you more about now so 7 points not as good as it was but they still need to work through the colours and they aren't there to stop all anyway.

Due to the job they also get to recognise "types" - hard for them not to really.

I have no idea of you..your mates family..And where you derive your ideas..Apart from speeding and reporting crimes I have no interaction other than a bit chat on a friday night, events etc...I can only speak as I find..They have always been fine..But they are only human and the constant crap they must put up with from sections of the public must make them seriously jaundiced and sick at times. They are products of our times and tainted by interactions with many vile unpleasant characters daily.

You do have some serious police orientated hang ups for some reason.
