Tee-ing off a radial circuit

Just watched a video from 'cjr' on YouTube, in which he was terrified of tee-ing/branching/spurring from a radial circuit.

As a result, he ended running an excessive amount of swa back and forth to maintain a 'true' radial circuit.

This struck me as a complete waste of time, effort, money and materials, and even made the job look ugly.

Does anyone believe in such nonsense?

He said it is on a 16 Amp breaker so what difference does it make?
He said something about using a waterproof socket inside the garage as that is what he had.
I'd not employ him.

I've seen parts of 2 or 3 of his videos and I think he is an idiot. I'm surprised many on here watch his rubbish.

Sorry to be blunt.

I wathed it because of this thread, well I watched part of it and gave up as he is an idiot. I was waiting to see him say he drove 60 miles to test his eysight before doing the job

There are any number of articles and videos on the internet. A radial circuit has only one connection at the distribution board, and therefore the MCB protecting that (radial) circuit will be rated for the cable used on that circuit. It therefore follows that, assuming a cable with the same (or greater) current carrying capacity is used, there is no restriction on the number of branches, nor the number of outlets on any branch. People like the one referred to in the original post are at best stupid, and at worst grossly incompetent.

I can't believe I've just been stupid enough to waste 20mins of my life watching an idiot wasting his and his clients time and money to do a second rate job.
Doesn't know how to use 5 holes.
Doesn't know how to earth the armour properly.
Does know how to do a p155 ugly job.
Why oh why be stupid enough to not look in the book and run a branch... just like it shows it in the book. It saves materials, time, resistance, our worlds resources...
So now there is an isolator in the garage that doesn't isolate the garage, well it sort of 50:50 does.
And to crown it all he seems proud to publish his 5h1t on tinternet.

Astra99 seems to sum it up nicely -- incompetant

And now I've wasted another 20 mins writing about it.

Makes no sense to me. I mean, a lighting circuit will consist of branches won't it? 2 way cables. Fan cables. Switch cables. I don't have to go on, do I?

He seems a good experienced electrician, but lately seems a bit obsessive or plain daft.

If he continues not to tee off radial circuits, he is going to face some bloody awkward jobs...

It’s entertainment.
We likes to change rings to 16A too
That must be interesting, especially if it is a kitchen ring. You can have either the toaster or the kettle on but not both, and what if you want a cup of tea while the washing machine is working? I have a caravan so a 16A supply is normal but very limiting.

I've been subscribed to his channel for a good while now but recently his way of working is bizarre! I'm glad it wasn't just me who thought this 'true radial' was utter nonsense and the finished job looked awful, total waste of external socket inside the garage (that's all he had - is it just me who carries van stock then) and the tiny bit of pointless amoured cable between that and the garage isolator which now doesn't isolate all of the power in the garage hmmm! And don't get me started on him using electrical tape to identify the cables, that's going to be a sticky mess in a few years time, for gods sake buy sleeving and keep it on the van, its not as if he wont use it!

Watch his previous couple of videos where he re-wires the lights on the outside of a shed, what a god awful mess he installs and even when he goes back it still looks terrible o_O
