The Belgians have removed a statue of King Leopold 2, because of his habit of slaughtering black people.

About time people started to question what their idols really stood for. Most people blindly celebrate people without knowing our understanding what complete *******s they were.

While back I used to entertain Jehovah witnesses into my home for talks only because their mindset fascinated me. The indoctrination of thought, the belief the world was all according to a mix of some story book and what they were taught. But after a while i soon realised there was no helping them. That's you that is, not worth debating with someone obviously void of reason here we debate and when fair acknowledge an opinion not a mindset.

What I am seeing now is the end of the British heritage, our culture and the history that has made our country the place other nations want to turn to for help in their times of need. We stand up for the oppressed to protect others but we are not allowed to stand up for our own country and protect our own culture and heritage. Shameful.

People on here as I've joked want to deny.erase the existence of being english "you're not English you're an immigrant from Europe' etc cant you see it's the mindset they want to erase UK as we know it. It's like trying to make a gay man straight it may not be to everyone's taste but you have to accept it or leave.

Where do you think these children learned to be racially prejudiced? From their parents and their peers of course.

That's the problem. Lots will have had instances of it at times especially when young as they are different. May not be down to parents at all. Even that isn't so simple in some areas now as school children may mostly be the same colour wise.

Children are good at picking on people who are different of any colour. Then there are bullies and people who are picked on etc. Tearing down statues etc wont make any difference at all to the underlying problems or a number of other things that will now be going on.

Children are well aware of different colours and become aware at a fairly young age imo.. the school of thought is to mix children of all races together from an early age to help with combating racism so different becomes normal.
I don't think it's simply just down to parents either (though racist parents will teach children to me racist, even if indirectly). More of as you say, children not mixing at school, home, friends etc.

Bit dramatic i agree whats up with me today? I think its my time of the month, but it's the erosion, the lack of appreciation, too many people want to tag nationalism and racism when it's patriotism and a bit of pride being who we are. Too many want to just deny what we are, fking British if you dont like it.... you know where you can go.

I love Japan i love their culture their civilisation it absolutely fascinates me. Yes they are not perfect but wow they have some great values and lessons learnt. Would i want to move there and feel offended or want to change in any way even if for example they had a statue of the bomber who killed my great uncle onboard a ship in WWII no. Its their history its part of what they fought for. No country is perfect in fact they were all barbaric back in the times when it was the norm.

I am not trying to deny the existence of being English nor wanting to end British heritage.

All I am saying is that Colstons statue with its plaque is a symbol of slavery.
What is wrong with having it removed, then put in a museum where the both good and bad of Colston can be explained.
We shouldnt hide our heritage because some of it has a dark past, but lets not have a monument on public show with a plaque saying 'I spent some of my riches gained from the slave trade on building schools'
