Hi all,
There is an appliance in my kitchen which is occasionally causing the circuit breaker to knock off. It's either the kettle, the toaster or the radio. Having unplugged everything except the fridge so far and not had any issues. What would be the best strategy moving forward ? We can take the appliances to be tested which I suspect may be cheaper than a call out fee. Any help appreciated

Which circuit breaker are you meaning. RCD or mcb if the former then kettle is the most likely culprit, try stop using that one first followed by toaster. I would not have thought it was a radio

Thanks for your help. Sorry for not being clear - it's the MCB that trips. Happened on Wednesday and again yesterday. Recall it vaguely happening a few weeks back as well and the RCD tripped along with it but for the most part it's just the MCB. Radio is relatively new and within guarantee. The kettle is less than 5 years old and the toaster about 10 years or so.

Yes yes yes.

It should now be a simple process of elimination. As said, the kettle is the most likely culprit, so avoid using it (or use it on it's own and see if it causes the power to trip).

Plug one thing in then another etc until it trips then you will know what is causing it

Not necessarily.
If one of the items has a fault which raises the current higher than it should do, but not enough to trip, then the next item may be working correctly but push the current too high causing the trip.
The only way to be sure it is one of the appliances mentioned is to have them all tested.

If it was RCD then I would agree with @winston1 but for the MCB to trip that is another story, you have not as yet answered @flameport but a 32A MCB takes a lot of tripping, and one would expect the fuse to rupture, so check fuse in radio and toaster, with a radio would expect 1 amp would be enough however likely 3 amp fitted and if not blowing then either fuse faulty or not radio, and toaster likely 5 amp is enough, 2 slice toaster is around 800 watt so just under 3 amp, in both cases would swap fuse for a fuse which matches the rating, the kettle is more of a problem, it can trip a B32 trip before it ruptures a fuse, but in all cases it should be easy enough to work out trip opens when it is being used.

So I would be also considering a faulty socket installation, the line wire close to mounting screw with damaged installation and slight movement causes the short circuit, so if my house I would turn off power and inspect behind each socket, likely to be a black mark. However if on a 16A MCB then as already said likely the kettle as other two would likely blow fuse in plug first assuming correct size.

If however it is the RCD not the MCB then would be looking at toaster.
