Travel corridors

despite the so called 'air bridges' that Boris is still talking about......what they are arranging are not air bridges.

air bridges are bilateral agreements, however the government has not secured those with other countries.

The government have opened up travel to some 50 odd countries and allowed no quarantine on return, but there it is not confirmation what you can do in the the destination country, or even if they want UK travellers.

the quarantine rule is a bit of a farce anyway as left to the individual to self isolate -if you dont, nobody would know.

partly true. The standard FCO site does explain what you need to do at the other end and any specific rules (e.g. testing, transport etc).

There appears to have been a lot of behind the scenes work with countries.

100% true. They are unilaterally declared by the UK and don't guarantee problems when people arrive there so that needs to be checked = just as the news has reported.

press were reporting Greece not on the list - but it is. But there are no reciprocal arrangements.

I'd hoped it was a chance for the govt to show how they can negotiate deals or not.

LOL I thought you were more sensible than that.

Portugal is wondering why they aren't on the list. Greece wasn't and then was.

The other deal is odd. It suggests that they may want to go somewhat Corbyn or want to finish with no deal. Corbyn makes sense because the only way of standing a chance of competing with China is to adopt some of their measures - not their politics. May as well include Russia in that as well. ;) Our oligarchs already are really literally and form their own mafia.

Portugal has a very high rate of infections at the moment. Less than us in total numbers, but Portugal has a lot less people too.

It does but I think it is due to a 'spike' in (the poorer areas of) Lisbon - just as you have a 'spike' in Leicester so the total populations may not really be a factor.

Comparing cases per million figures is probably not ideal in this respect.
