Aye, but I don't have a SDS drill or the Xray vision tool to find where water or gas pipes are in the walls and more importantly, the time for doing the job.

50 quid alarm, must be some quality with detectors and bell box. I wouldnt trust it. If you dont want false alarms put something decent in. I prefer wired systems myself.

I just want to use it as a deterrent. Compared to having nothing now, at least it will be something.

so just screw the siren box to an outside wall, high up, out of reach, but clearly visible.

If you want, put a few of the sensors where they can be seen through downstairs windows.

If it's wireless, you don't need to drill many holes and you can fit one in a couple of hours.

Wireless sensors can even be fixed with double-sided tape. Or, I suppose, blu-tak.

I like the description
  • BRIEF:The siren is the “brain” of the unit.Remotes make it super easy to activate/deactivate
  • FUNCTION:When the sensor are triggered, this device will make alarm by Sound and Flash to warn the intruders
  • USEFUL:To form an complete and independent alarm system by coding with sensors like PIR, door contact, and remote controller
If it triggers when the intruders intrude the sound and flash will not have any real deterrent effect. The intriuder(s) will just act faster to remove any items they can remove.

A local shop had it's front door smashed in, the alarm triggered, did the intruder see it as a deterrent and run when it sounded ?

No...... the intruder was inside for several minutes while the alarm was sounding calmly collecting items before leaving and walking calmly away to his car. Full face masked so the CCTV could not provide images of the face.

In a residential area with houses next to each other, an alarm can wake up the neighbours and they can call the Old Bill or come out in force and manhandle the burglars. ;)

Found this on the net :

Or more likely they will roll over in bed muttering "another false alarm"

I’d want more than £300 to put my name to that rubbish  so far you have wasted £50 and got nowhere.
Go for a walk around the local area and see which company has the most siren boxes installed then get in touch with that company.

We say no to installing diy kit, we also so no to people who supply there own.

The problem with supplied by customer kit anything goes wrong you cant return or replace it and job cant be completed until its replaced.

You can hire equipment like drills and ladders but think you'll get a shock on the pricing.
