I had some 3/8" sockets turned on a lathe, they just about fit in 2" trunking. But like all good infrequently used nick naks they are away with the fairies.
I like the way the square socket has been turned in on tose to save length.
and how slim they look, the corner of that bush is very close to the side of the Besa box. I suspect a standard socket might not fit in there. Also being so flat it will tuck under obstructions.
And there was me thinking my reduced length sockets were the dogs knees
My late uncle devised his own tools for such jobs, consisting of an iron bar with a notch in it - with simple modification he could have devised something more universal.
Mind you, anyone noticed how bushes are getting smaller, so there's less to get hold of?
The thread may be the same, but less material is used.
The bushes are so small they leave gaps around the hole in the accessory box.
Also, they are now so small my bush king spanner is now too large to grip the bushes.
My bush king started slipping over the corners and thinking it had worn too much purchased another from a wholesaler, first use it slipped [and I smashed my knuckles of course], I took it back conplaining it didn't fit on the bushes I'd purchased at the same time. The guy laughed and said "Didn't you know they don't fit anymore?"
I'm finding I frequently have to fit washers or lock rings to cover the gaps and have started getting into the habit of locking the tube directly into the box with a lock ring and nut rather than coupling and bush, oh and it's cheaper.
I did a job recently [ https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/a-real-moan-tonight.552183/ ] where I had to remove, alter and replace a metal box. The original 25mm and 20mm brass bushes were mahusive, especially the 20mm. At the time I thought how lovely the old bushes were to work with.
