What have you been doing today?

How many miles did you have to drive....?!
Less than 4, return trip.

BoJo and Hand Job tell you to have a test, then make sure you can't "have a test".

Drive - in: no tests.
Walk - in: no tests.
Home kits : no tests.

So, on recommendation of friend who did same on Friday, went to local walk - in centre, for which you need appointment.

In all likelihood, I probably have a heavy cold but, as wife cares for young adults with disabilities, and I woke up at 0100 and was worryingly short of breath, I thought it best to get tested.

"By rights, I should turn you away as you are without an appointment", I was told at the centre.
I did explain that if been trying for two days, with no luck at all.
That, and me sweating like a robber's hoss, coughing, generally looking a bit spaced, and the fact that there was only three people in the queue, probably led him to take pity on me.

Like I said earlier, it's probably a cold but, following the advice of "get a test of you have symptoms" , I did so.
Perhaps, if they don't really want you to have tests, they could change the qualifying symptoms to exclude any symptoms that could be colds......

Hope it comes back negative for you.

Part of me hopes it comes back positive, because then I'll have some reference point that I can survive the 'rona (although whether that is any use for future possible infection, I don't know).....
Plus, as the rest of my family have either no symptoms, or nothing more than a sore throat, I could console myself too, with their potential resilience.....

Not sure what the answer is there, maybe some of our resident expert virologists / epidemiologists / statisticians on the fora may be able to shed more light on it.

Good luck mate.

Yesterday I applied a mist coat to my stairwells (6 walls, 3 ceilings), today I did a 2nd mist coat. (as she puts it - doing the bits I missed lol)

Had a very relaxing day for a change. Well, to be honest even when I am doing things around the house I find it relaxing, but today has been one of rising late, (8.10am), relaxing coffee in the garden before a nice long hot shower, little trip out to get some essential shopping, (we ate the last of the ice cream last night), home to a lovely cooked full English breakfast and then we both settled down to some reading/surfing/sewing. Later I set the sprinkler up in the garden before flopping back down on the sofa for some more reading and surfing whilst my wife did some more sewing. 5.00pm we had a roast dinner before sitting down again around 7.00pm to watch the F1 Highlights with a bottle of beer.

All in all a very relaxing day. :)

Anyway, today I’ve been piddling about with my house alarm. I smashed the internal sounder when decorating, bought a new one, it wouldn’t work, found it had a duff internal back up battery in the alarm panel, fitted a new one, still no joy. Rewired it so the internal sounder works with the external sounder and it’s all good now.
More alarm problems for me today, luckily not mine though. The neighbour opposite had her alarm going off. Nothing unusual as she often forgets to unset it in the morning and she normally switches it off after 15 seconds or so but not today. Her windows were open so she was obviously in. Anyway, Mrs Mottie sent me over with the key (we seem to be Key holders for half the street!) and after knocking and getting no answer I let myself in. I called out her name a few times and as I was walking through the house, all of a sudden her daughter came in from the rear garden (daughter was visiting and lives in Austria). She had been sunbathing and was wearing the skimpiest of bikini's :sneaky:. Anyway, she was unaware that it was her mums alarm going off and mum is nearly deaf. I made my excuses and left - she saw me to the door. Did I get any thanks from Mrs Mottie? Did I heck! All I got was "That was a nice surprise for you, did you get a good eyeful?". :cautious: Anyway, ten minutes later it’s screaming it’s head off again. After about 15 minutes I had a foreign number call on my mobile and it was the daughter asking me if I could disable it - mum was there but they couldn’t call me from the house phone as it was the electric tripping that was setting the alarm off and the house phone was out too. Oh, and she told me she was isolating as she had just come over! Of course I couldn’t say no so Mrs Mottie sent me back with gloves and a mask (and would have fitted a blindfold to me if she could ) No need though as being a gentleman  I told her to stay in the garden. I disconnected it the battery and pulled the fuse for the alarm. Told them to get it sorted and get a sparks out to get the electrics sorted - I wasn’t getting involved in that. I had to scrub up and disinfect the key when I got back indoors.
