I received a letter last week for parking my car in a private car park without paying for parking. I had paid using justpark app (approved by the parking management) and while I looked into it I realised I had selected the wrong car in the app. So I sent an appeal email to the charge notice issuer providing them the proof of parkign as well as invoice issued by justcar which clearly shows my name and address. Explained to them I had paid for parking but I had selected wrong car in the app.
I was thinking they'll accept my appeal but to my surprise they've rejected my appeal.
I'd like to know if anyone else had similar issue and how to deal with it? I really don't want to pay the fine because I had paid for parking so they received money for the duration I was parked there. Now they want me to hand them over additional £60!

I'm not at all surprised.
From what I've heard and read, car parking firms are greedy buggers and will take any possible opportunity to sting their customers.
Here's an infamous example of a woman who overstayed simply because she was giving CPR to a heart attack sufferer: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...rstaying-car-park-14-minutes-stopped-CPR.html
I found that absolutely disgusting.

If you look on the consumer action group forum they'll have the latest info on how to deal with these bandits.

They really are greedy buggers. Invoice clearly shows I paid and Justpark app proves I had paid for the duration I was parked in that car park so they've absolutely no ground to reject my appeal.
I'll post the question on consumer action group and would see what they suggest.

They've never allowed any appeal, ever.
You will have to go to the adjudicator so it costs them money.
To waste more of their resources, submit a subject access request asking for full video of your car entering and exiting as well as your other car (the one you paid for but wasn't there).
They will not be able to provide evidence that your other car was there and that will be your win at the adjudication stage.
Do not ask them for evidence in any other format rather than a subject access request, otherwise they will ignore you.
If they don't reply to your subject access request you can then make them spend more money by complaining to the ico at the deadline (one month and a day).
If everyone did this they would soon be out of business.
One more thing, do not be scared of the threatening letters you will receive from them, they only hope that you pay their invoice (in fact, it is not a penalty charge notice nor a fine).
Read all about it online.

The is a legal forum which helps with these sorts of thing - Peplo or something.

I think the advice will be to let it go to court, the parking company will then have to prove they have actually incurred a loss - which up to your sending in the appeal, they hadn't. You had paid for the parking space, despite your error in identifying the correct car. It will likely then be thrown out of court (small claims court).

Maybe worth your writing to them again, explaining you will be happy to see them in court, because you did pay and they have suffered no loss of parking income for a space you did pay for. Suggest you will be happy to meet any reasonable administration cost, up to the point where you appealed and admitted your error with the car, but no more. That should amount to no more than they can justify - perhaps £10.

[EDIT] Popla is the name!

I strongly advise against offering any money to these bandits.
Fight it till the end, they have no leg to stand.
On consumer action group you'll find the latest instructions on how to deal with these scambags.
BTW, where about is this car park?
If it's within a supermarket you could see if they can cancel the invoice.

Thanks for all the encouraging advise. I've no intentions of paying them anything because as far as I'm concerned they received their money for the duration I was parked in the car park.
The car park in question is Dorney Lake, SL4 6FJ
I've posted in Consumer Action Group forum and seeking further help there too!

Occasionally, just occasionally it does go to court and the little man loses, you die hards should also point that out to the OP.

Thanks, yes ' peppipoo fightback forums is the place to go.

The one I mentioned is the organisation to appeal to, a supposed mediation organisation.

If I understand the OP, he simply entered the wrong registration, that of another car you own. pepipoo suggest you have nothing to loose by using Popla's appeal process - its free, but still leave it open for you to let the parking company attempt to take you to court and you to put your case in court.

Here is one discussion where someone entered the wrong registration - http://forums.pepipoo.com/lofiversion/index.php/t123816.html

Another one here- almost exactly the same as your case - http://forums.pepipoo.com/lofiversion/index.php/t112734.html

It happened once with parking companies, once.
Just because Mr Beavis (i think that was his name) wasn't fully prepared.
That was in 2012 and since then tbese bandits have not gone near any court.

Do not ignore it. Appeal through the channels provided. They may or may not follow on from their threats.
I had one from PE even though I had paid the landowner and had proof. In the end I wrote to the MP and then PE cancelled, but only as a stupid "goodwill gesture" not because they were wrong.

Facebook has a good group for this.....Private Parking Tickets - help & advice.
Money Saving Expert forum is also good, as is Pepipoo (Fightback forum)
