There isn't much

Broad leaf deciduous....poorly managed forest so timber quality poor

Coniferous...some European Larch for fencing, a bit of Douglas fir and Scots pine.

Nearly all timber used in UK for joinery, site construction, cabinetry is imported.

UK doesn't have much forest....I'm guessing but probably less than 10%.... compared to Finland which is around 3/4


We used to have a lot of oak....the Navy chopped it down a few hundred years ago

Bulk of our softwood comes from Sweden, I only know this because the bloke at Jewsons told me about 6 or 7 weeks back when I enquired about price for floorboards, he gave me a price but in the size I wanted they were down to about 10 lengths, said there was a big shortage and they couldn't give a date when they would get a delivery. "covid?" I said, partly, possibly, but he reckoned the main reason was because there was a big shortage in America and the Yanks were happy to pay a premium so timber was being diverted there.
Seems back to normal now.

What surprised me is that I thought North America were self sufficient in timber.
