Traffic wardens

It's my best run ever!!!!!! (Back to square one)
In my misspent youth I had 9 tickets up to bailiff level. What a complete **** I was. £240.00 each & that was the early 90's. I was murder, if I rented a film (remember those days!!!) I'd return it two weeks later & pay more than it would of costed to buy!!

Brig, come clean. Did you call the council to get them ticketed?

speed camera van operators are still out and considered essential so traffic wardens must be too :)

Most of em are a waste of space

In capable of common sense
If they displayed any they would not have got the job in the first place

Himagain would have no trouble being one he is well qualified

A good while back one got assaulted in a car park after he issued a ticket to some bloke who. Over stayed

Although I was asked if I saw the event

I did not as I was tying up my shoe laces at the time :sneaky::sneaky:

Once in London I had to stop at the Leyland decorator centre on the main drag through Paddington, it's on a parade of shops where the well known Italian scooter shop is. There's a lay by outside that might take 8 or so cars, then double yellows, maybe reds even.
Anyway, as I approached I could see the lay by was full so I threw a left before the parade and parked 3 or 4 streets away. When I got to the shop a decorator was being bundled into the back of a police car, apparently he pulled up on the double yellows and said to a traffic warden "is it ok if I just run in that shop for 30 seconds, they've got a tin of paint ready for me" The warden said that was fine so the decorator ran into the shop and when he ran back out 25 seconds later, the warden was sticking a ticket on his van, so he decked him.

I mentioned the other night that we are now seeing things that we haven't seen before, due to the overwhelming number of foreigners at large.

How about double parking? All the kerbside spaces taken you say? No problem, just park parallel to a car already parked. Blocking the carriageway and stopping traffic you say? No problem, just switch on your hazard warning lights.

Why would traffic wardens not be working?

They work outdoors , alone, don't actually need to touch anything apart from their own equipment, and don't generally get close to the general public

Pretty covid safe.....

I'm glad their working , in the first lockdown about a month in people where I live realised that they weren't working and the town turned into the wild west of parking, it was mayhem

An unlikely story. And as you only just arrived as the decorator was being bundled into the police car, you were unaware of the unfolding of the events.
So you have either invented the story, or you were that decorator and twisted the time elapsed details to suit your anecdote, or you knew the decorator and have heard his twisted version of events, in so far as the time elapsed details are concerned.

There is no strict requirement for traffic wardens to monitor a vehicle for any period of time before giving it a PCN.
While some contraventions are eligible for an instant fine (parking on zig-zag lines outside a school, for example), others (such as stopping on double yellow lines) may need an observation period of anything up to five minutes to prove that, for example, passengers weren’t alighting or goods weren’t being unloaded.

2. If you're making a commercial delivery or pick-up
Loading or unloading your van? It's OK to stop briefly on double yellow lines to do so, but you must be continuously loading or unloading the whole time you're parked. There's also a time limit – 40 minutes for heavy goods vehicles and 20 minutes for light goods vehicles.
