It's all in a day's work for them.

LOL Are you kidding especially in Germany. Some English has spread probably down to the web. The Swiss are a bit odd as use 2 major ones. They just get on with it as they will with Brexit problems if they think it's worth while. They already have zero vat facilities for export as a few of ours do if they think that things will sell to the USA.

From Wiki............"French was the mother tongue of 87.2% of the total population."
I suspect that is the percentage of the adult population:

40,000,000 is just over half the population of France

But people of 18 years and younger would presumably follow the same trend, thus 86% would be expected.
Not necessarily, the suggestion is that the second generation would have reduced use of the mother tongue, and it would be diluted with each generation.
But that survey was conducted in 1999, and the ebbs and flows of migrants obviously varies over time.

But the principle remains, that continental Europeans (the same can be said for any large landmass with multiple nationalities), in general grow up dealing with various languages and it is part of their daily life.
On the other hand when foreign languages are heard in UK, many take exception to it, and even violent exception, occasionally.

Yes but what you need to remember is this. When English speaking people who were born in the UK move abroad e.g. Spain, they always do their utmost to fully integrate into the local way of life, local customs and so on. Most importantly, they always endeavour to speak Spanish especially when in public so as not to upset the indigenous population.

;)

Some UK business have been lazy in respect to the EU.

They are often fringe things that are being sold but our lot just sit around moaning and going bust.
Ah yes...

"Brexit worse than feared, says JD Sports boss"

"The boss of one of Britain's big retailers says Brexit has turned out to be "considerably worse" than he feared.
Peter Cowgill, chairman of JD Sports, said the red tape and delays in shipping goods to mainland Europe meant "double-digit millions" in extra costs.
He told the BBC the company might open a distribution centre overseas to help mitigate the problems, and that would mean job losses in the UK.
Mr Cowgill's criticism echoes that from exporters and importers across the UK."

"Mr Cowgill told the BBC's World at One that there is no true free trade with the EU, because goods that JD Sports imports from East Asia incur tariffs when they go to its stores across Europe.
He said: "I actually think it was not properly thought out. All the spin that was put on it about being free trade and free movement has not been the reality.
"The new system and red tape just slows down efficiency. The freedom of movement and obstacles are quite difficult at the moment."

The BBC has asked the government for a comment...

Good luck with that request!

You may want to brush up on your reading.

The company was started three days after Brexit was voted on.
no it wasnt

the company was incorporated in 2016

before that it wasnt a limited company

your voting for Johnsons deal has meant theyve had to close.

thousands more will go that way

"With deep sadness in my heart I write to you today to inform you that I’ve had to let my business head overrule my heart and bring Baron Shellfish Limited to closure. As working alongside my late father as a schoolboy to set up the 1st lobster tank business from scratch in our home Port of Bridlington and thereafter seeing Bridlington Harbour thrive and become the biggest shellfish port in the United Kingdom. Many years ago we decided to take total advantage of the common market and increase our business by selling direct to customers in the EU. This meant we could competitively buy from our fellow merchants at Bridlington and the local vivia boats, making us more of dispatch centre to The EU. Which in turn meant the costing of conditioning grading packaging costs etc where kept in the UK. As you can appreciate, this meant more of the revenue created by the live lobsters stayed in the UK."

Good job they went limited three days after the Brexit vote then. Then again, they’ve only announced it on Facebook and don’t seem to have told companies house. Good job they accepted a charge put on them by the bank just months after starting out. Here’s a thought: Maybe it is a closure in the same way that Ellal closed her account on here. Remember that? Me neither.

Of course. They'll be the ones (of the many) that don't take exception to hearing foreign languages spoken. :)
In fact, some of those that do move abroad may have been born into a home where English was not he mother tongue.

you are sounding a bit desperate Mottie....time you stopped digging that hole, you will wear the spade out :ROFLMAO:

Like I said, nothing is affecting me. Some blokes giving up on selling cheese and lobsters abroad because it’s not easy enough for them doesn’t affect one bit. Does it affect you?
