Van shelf too wide?

Should I cut this shelf down so it doesn't stick out so far from side of van? Wondering if it's too wide.

I'll give a few weeks testthen if it gets on the way will reduce width (how far it sticks out from side). Just cut it down.

I've seen whole forums devoted to van racking.

I remember the good old days when I worked out of the back of a Ford Sierra - sapphire with the boot. Fold down the back seats for the mixer. Lol. Did it for years.

I worked for year with a passat, blacked out windows and rear seats down.
Then one day a bored copper decided that the tinted windows were too dark and made me remove the film there and then.
Cleared the car and bought a van.
Much better though.
20 years later, the passat is still running fine, and rear seats are now usable as a family car.
