What have you been doing today?

How about a seasonal veg thread? That could go on and on.
‘taters have chitted and were going in today but it’s too wet and windy for me, maybe the weekend. All starting to happen over the allotment now. Watch this space.

I might stay indoors, finish masking up and possibly paint the doors between the lounge and kitchen while Mrs Mottie is babysitting at our sons house - she won’t be home until about 9.00 tonight so I might treat myself to pie & chips. Sod it, I will.

I changed the brake fluid on my FJR after my first European motorcycling trip. Quite frightening having brake fade coming down a mountain road. Boiled the fluid. Had to stop for quite some time to let them cool before continuing!

Well, I was going to do the weekly shop today to break up the boredom but Mrs Mottie has just washed her hands upstairs and I heard a familiar gurgling in the downstairs sink. Yep, the sewer is blocked again. That’s happened four times in the last 20 years. We live on a slight incline and when it blocks downstream, it starts backing up. Other people’s sewage is coming up our sink so I’ve done the usual and put the plug in with a couple of bricks on top of them. Thames water have promised to be out within 4 hours. I hope it’s quicker though as when it gets really bad, the dishwasher cops it!

You know you're entitled to compensation if sewage enters your property not caused by your own private drains.

Thanks but I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that. Whenever it’s happened before they've got here in time and all we've done is put a cleaner in the dishwasher and washing machine and done a hot cycle or two. It’s not pleasant when bits of toilet paper gurgle up the plug hole though!

Panic over, it’s sorted itself out now - I’ve run a bath full of water down the drain and a couple of toilet flushes and I have the washing machine and dishwashers on a hot cleaning cycle so problem fixed. For now! Cancelled the Thames water call out.

My new bit of kit... you wouldn't understand unless your a professional tradesman

Went and did the weekly shop at Tesco for a change. Never again. Too hard to find stuff - I’m too used to the layout at Sainsbury’s. Only bonus was they had a hot food cabinet so I bought myself a cheeky hot sausage roll to eat on the way home. Beats a cold pork pie.
