Rolling correctly and stains

Mist coat won't make any difference to top coat as long as it wasn't vinyl watered down!
What is the make of your paints? Ceiling and walls. Please put a picture up.
Also have you already bought the vinyl paint?
Johnstone's

Bought the vinyl. Put most of it on it's just the kitchen where I'm wondering whether to put it on. As it's exactly same colour as mist coat so wont see if I've not covered every bit. And different sheen might come through. Am I over worrying?

Ceiling is just contact mist coat and top coat of contract. I was gonna leave it like that. It's the cutting in on ceiling which is a bit dark . Just keep going over it?

Also, what product would you use to fill this old socket casing?

Just do the kitchen in vinyl. You will see the difference as it's darker when wet. After a mist coat you're best doing two top coats. Also on the ceilings too. The Leyland trade white from screwfix etc (about £16 for 10ltr) is great for ceilings.
On bare plaster you can get away with only one top coat but it will always be better with 2 coats on top of a mist coat. The mist coat is quite see through and is just there to seal the wall.

As for the hole I would stick in a piece of wood slightly smaller and fill over the top, gently sand and then fill again, then sand even to wall.

Thanks. Fix the wood in with a screw I guess. Maybe use 600 wet/dry on final sand?

With this rubbish woodwork in photos I was gonna use 80 grit electric sander on skirting to get rid of stains etc. Regarding the doors shall I caulk or fill the small gaps between wood (red)? Sand out old paint on architraves with 120 grit electric sander feather into bare wood?

Hand sand curves. Dont think electric Sanders can do this

Fill gaps near hinge (purple)? Using two part filler

These chips in the rubbish skirting are an issue. I'm trying two ways- sanding them out to feather in and filling. I

guess after undercoat goes on I'll get an idea of how they'll look. With door - total nightmare, shall I hit the bits of wood with bits of paint already half on it with 80 grit electric square sander? To strip the paint off. Tryong to feather other bits into what's there with 120 grit electric sander? What do you think?

Or just heat gun the lot off?

Cutting in on skirting, would you freehand or tape it?

Fill it, fill it and then fill it some more! Just sand down with a block and sandpaper!

Is this what you mean fill then sand on the architraves?
I paint the emulsion down from wall onto skirting but noticed it bleeding through undercoat. Just gotta says out I guess with 80 grit

I'd use pollyfilla myself, much easier to sand. Pollyfilla and use your finger down the frames. You could even use caulk but you need to do all the sand able bits with pollyfilla first. Or a similar other branded product!
