are you guys sure a mag filter is an explicit requirement for the warranty?? I always thought the requirement was a clean system with inhibitor.

For extentended warranties some manus state that the warranty will be extended, if you use their own brand filter, external controls , wall jigs etc, it is just a warranty thing no regs say you must install a mag filter

Just found this thread. Going back to the first post, why on earth are you using an electric shower when you have a combi boiler? Electricity is four times the cost of gas.

You can swap a pair of bath taps for a Hansgrohe 1001 ecostat bath shower mixer for about £150 plus labour. Absolute bargain, been using them for 20years.
No brainer. Ultra reliable.

I have read it all through and cannot see anything specifically mentioning that he has said that he is going to register the installation which we call "Notification".

This is usually done through Gas Safe. When it is done you receive a Certificate by post. It is required under the Building Regulations and your responsibility to comply with. Only the installer can normally do it.

The flue has not been sealed on the outside and Gas Safe would usually consider yours to be classed as At Risk and potentially Unsafe!

I am not impressed by him quoting for a 30kw and fitting a cheaper 24kw!

I have not looked at the filling loop but it probably does not comply with the current Water Regulations. It would be good practice to replace it when a new boiler is fitted and as said only £10 to buy.

Thanks
Had a message on Friday saying he was coming round Saturday to replace the Boiler with a 30 kw and make do the other mistakes
Was supposed to be here at 9.am yesterday never turned up. Had a message today saying his wife had had a miscarriage. Reckons will call tomorrow to update.

Sent a return message saying I was sorry to hear about his wife’s condition. Told him if he could make it Monday all good. bit like playing chess with this guy, you have to figure your next move in advance.

I knew a roofer whose mother died three or four times a year.

poor sod.

Obviously if he doesn’t, I wouldn’t get too hard on him with the above looming over.
The boy who cried wolf

Afraid that once he fibbed about the 30kw and warranty period the writing was on the wall. 99.99% he's lying about the miscarriage.

In any case, he will have to fix it or risks losing his livelihood. He's just stalling by the sounds of it.

I must say that if the OP uses an electric shower, id suggest there's no need for a 30kw boiler.. rather get the installer to pay him back the difference + compensation
