I won't be poo-pooing it. I think it's an excellent deal for India.
It's an annual 0.04% to India's GDP., and about the same for UK. As you say, every little helps.
Now if UK could repeat this with say, China and Russia, that will be an extra 0.12% to UK.

Other sources report it differently...

"Brexit: EU steals march in race for India trade deal as Johnson announces ‘enhanced partnership’
Brussels and Delhi tipped to open talks on free trade agreement within days – while UK admits ‘shared intent to begin work’ only"

"Brussels hailed “clear momentum”, with talks on a free trade agreement to be confirmed as early as Saturday, threatening to put the UK in the slow lane in the race for negotiations.
The prime minister pledged that 6,500 jobs would be created in the UK through trade and investment deals with India, centred on health, technology and vaccine development."

"But the “enhanced partnership” seems certain to be trumped by talks on a fully fledged trade deal between the EU and India, to be confirmed within days."

Pretty obvious for India really...

Do a free trade deal with the biggest trading bloc in the world and throw the crumbs to a country on it's way down...

Plus there is the odd bit of colonial era memories to get payback for!

It will come with concessions. You will hear about them if someone decides to leak it. The net result will fall short of what Bozza tells you.

Great that we have improved though.(y)

'Improved' what exactly?

Intentions to talk mean nothing...

Plus brexiteers ain't gonna like this...

"Economists warn that getting a full deal with Delhi that lowers tariff and non-tariff barriers won't be easy. India is likely, for example, to want UK entry visa requirements for its workers and students to be eased."

Every little helps but I suppose there will be some on here that will poo-poo it. From little acorns etc.

I see that you look forward to greater numbers of foreign workers, and their families, coming here. Also the students.

But I recall that you moaned about people walking past you in the street, wearing foreign styles of clothes and speaking foreign languages.

Have you seen the errors of your ways?

Like I said.....

Don't believe everything you read in the Delhi Mail.

You do concede that any trade deal agreed with India will come with concessions? Wasn't Brexit all about immigration, once you lot had exhausted all your other pies in the sky?
It depends on what concessions if any and I trust the government to not make the same mistake and have an open door policy like we used to have with the EU. Even if there is, they’re not on our doorstep so you won’t see thieving, robbing, pickpocketing, violent gangs of Indians coming over for £9.99 on Ryanair to ply their trade.
