The EU have agreed to resume trade talks with India that stalled in 2013. We were due to visit India some weeks back to commence talks on an FTA but obviously cancelled due to their covid situation.
If the EU agree a deal before us it will be nothing short of a miracle given their track record.

I do happen to recall that previous attempts at a trade deal occurred when the UK was part of the EU...

So I suspect it may be easier for the EU to do a deal without the shackles of a 'commonwealth'/post colonial country putting spanners in the works!
