Animal welfare laws

Does this mean now we can fine the dogs that poo everywhere seeming as they are now sentient animals. A growth indsutry indeed.

Does this extend to food we import then or is this just virtue signalling?

Do we import any animals purely for slaughter in the UK ? Our welfare rules are quite high hence slaughtering here is more expensive, it is far cheaper to slaughter on the continent where the EU don't even enforce their own lax rules, which explains why we still export on the hoof instead of on the hook

But whatever, all live exports and imports purely for slaughter need to be banned, in fact any live transport for slaughter should not be greater than 4 hours.

One of my drinking buddies is a semi-retired slaughtering butcher. He reckons he slaughtered everything Halal as it's a better way to drain the blood, which taints the meat. He also swears by surprising the animal & not allowing it to catch on that the end is nigh, they react to fear by releasing hormones like adrenaline into their bloodstream just like we do. He can tell meat that has been poorly slaughtered just by the taste.

Apparently pigs are the most difficult to slaughter well. They seem to know . . . .

There would be cries of anti-semitism[sic].

For some reason (i.e. to maintain your own fairy story), people's ridiculous religious beliefs must be 'respected' (pandered to).

I was rather hoping that Vinty & only Vinty would respond, but what the heck.

Are religious beliefs ridiculous then?

Dork is as aetheist as they come, but he respects the right of those who believe to believe in whatever . . .

I'm struggling here & if you can help me out please do. Is anyone who has an ounce of religion in their body therefore ridiculous?

Sorry.

Yes, but I accept they are necessary to control the masses. Many are controlled badly.

Why? Where would or do you draw the line?

Their beliefs are.

UK Halal is slaughtered in exactly the same way (apart from stunning) that non halal is slaughtered.
84-90% of Halal is stunned anyway.
Under the EU Halal is illegal but the Uk had an exception.

I draw my line at people who are obviously mentally ill.

I don't consider a religious belief to be a sign of mental illness, neither does the Pope, or Dr Justin Welby, or even our very own Queen Regina.

Dork has friends who believe the earth is flat. Dork suspects that the earth isn't actually flat, yet we can still be friends . . .
