....A wet test???

Plus, I'm not sure about the coil springs. Two years ago, the guy had it up on a ramp and the coils were so clean, he thought they were replacements.

If they were corroded, could you clean them down and treat them to arrest corrosion, or is it best to replace?

Lastly, the clutch is slipping a bit. When it comes to replacement, is it worth investing in Honda kit?

The original clutch is currently on 150K.

No never heard of it

( wet test)

does it mean that it was tested under wet conditions
I.e the underside of the car was wet so it makes checking for oil fluid leaks difficult ????

Never heard of a wet test.....any leaks from shock absorbers can be seen irrespective of the condition of the underside of the car, if that's what the tester means. Misting of fluid from shocks or oil seals is acceptable. A wet test may mean that it is impossible to see where the 'wetness' is coming from.
As for the coil springs, it's an advisory that you have so no need to take action unless you want to replace them. I've had well painted springs snap, and heavily corroded ones that have gone on and on.
John :)

Never heard of a wet test but that is a manually inputted advisory. May mean that the test was carried out on a wet car that had come in on a rainy day so may not be a able to differentiate between any fluid leaks. Possibly a CYA exercise or maybe to help a trader out with a leaking shock.

Regards clutch, Aisin or exedy usually make the clutches for Japanese brands, for others like luk or valeo if they don't make it from the OEM they'll buy it from who does and rebadge it.

Not sure on the cost of genuine Honda, but get a price on both and compare and see if it's worth the saving or not.

Brands that will provide same quality as OEM are:

Valeo
Luk
Sachs
Exedy
Aisin

avoid anything and everything else.

The tester is advising that the vehicle was 'wet' when inspected.

They're covering themselves if there is indeed any leakage of fluids which may be hidden by the 'wet' condition of the vehicle.

No way!

It's just run in!

In its lifetime, it has had general servicing (fluids and filters etc), suspension bushes, tyres, brake components and wiper blades. Other than that, it's had very little done.

The two components I can think of are a cabin heater fan and an injector seal.

Oh, and the rear washer is intermittent. Probably blocked somewhere along the line. But TBH, it's been very reliable.

It is still on the original clutch, shocks, wheel bearings and exhaust.

I plan to give it a thorough wash and brush up this Summer. When I do that I shall post the pictures up here somewhere. You'd be surprised by just how good it looks.

As already said, the ‘advisories' are purely the personal opinion of the tester. Even so........
