What have you been doing today?

Finished the boys school project Roman helmet tonight, supposed to be him doing it but I kind of got a bit carried away! The glue on the top doesn't look quite as rough in the flesh. :)

Babysitting Thursday today. Our Grandson has quite a vocabulary for a 27 month old. He has the habit of saying "Oh no!' If something goes wrong such as dropping a sandwich, spilling a drink etc. He’s obviously picked it up from his parents. Anyway, today, we’ve got him in the habit of saying "Sacre bleu!" and raising his hands under the same circumstances but we haven’t told our son or his partner so I’m waiting for them to tell us he has started speaking French!

On a sadder note, when we were taking him home tonight, along one two mile stretch of the A12, we saw two dead full-grown deer against the central reservation barrier as well as a Muntjac deer on the hard shoulder. :(

 Don’t laugh. 25 more coats of paint and it might level out. Anyway, it’ll be hidden behind a bench. Version 2.0 might be better - that was my prototype.

She wanted rustic and by God she got it!

Three weeks later and today I completed version 2.0. Just as 'rustic' as the other one.

At least they match!

I'm off for a well-deserved sit-down now.

Just made 3 different varieties of curry from scratch, a banana cake loaf and prepped some lamb marinating in spices for slow cooking tomorrow and serving on Sunday.

Anyway, when I put food out on my feeding table, the wood pigeons scoff the lot. I’m trying to lure some blue tits into my garden as I want them to nest in my bird box with the Wifi camera. I had one of those nut feeders but no nuts, hence my shelling the peanuts. I’ve also hung up two fatball feeders. Hopefully that should encourage them in. Fingers crossed!
OH YES!!!
The tits are coming, the tits are coming!
Mrs Mottie told me she heard a tapping noise outside the bathroom this morning where the box is. I checked it and.......yay, they have started building a nest. If they continue and have chicks, I’ll have to start a new thread all of its own.

While I was watching earlier, I saw a Starling pop it’s head in the hole. The tit jumped up at it and it retreated and is now keeping an eye on the hole and puffing itself up to look bigger. The box is empty now so I don’t know whether it’s frightened the tit away. Fingers crossed he toughs it out.
