What have you been doing today?

Been round my mums re-felting the roof of her shed. Bloody 'orrible job. Got my hands covered in roofing felt adhesive and she had to squirt lighter fuel on my hands to clean them. Had a bit of a result though as I found a tin toy postbox that I remembered playing with years ago and I used to save up coins that relatives used to give me. Apart from some Dutch coins, there was an old three penny bit, four farthings and a load of silver three penny coins in there. Well dirty but I’ve currently got them in my ultrasonic cleaner. Will be interesting to see how they come out.

If you happen to have a 1945 silver three pence coin in that lot, I'll give you a tanner for it.

Old coins can be worth money.

Pre-1947 Silver Coins and Pre-1920 Silver Coins
Pre-1920 Coins are actually 92.5% Pure Silver. Pre-1947 are 50% Pure Silver. You may be surprised on how much your old loose change is worth no matter the condition.

Are you sitting on a small fortune?

Cleaned up okayish. Date ranged from 1878 to 1941 but most in the 1910-1920 range.

Off out tonight on the firms Christmas do! Postponed from the day before the last lockdown.

I do hope you're wearing a Christmas jumper, we need photos of your alcoholic fuelled shenanigans .
Nah, just me and Mrs Mottie. It’ll be the first time we’ve had a proper sit down, inside evening meal for over a year.

Phoned a restaurant in Charlestown during the week to be told they're booking for the end of July.

Did you check with any experts before you did that? It might be that removing the patina of age removes a lot of value....
No. I can always dirty them up again though. I might have them made into a piece of jewellery for my daughter on her wedding day next year. Something old.....
