BBC funding cut by £2 billion.

Maybe if they stayed out of politics and stopped being so politically correct they could survive

This govt are defunding the BBC because they are intent on controlling the media.

Govt won power by a big con trick known as Brexit, they can’t have the BBC telling the truth and exposing Brexit lies.

Thank fully, most people are not stupid these days and can tell which media sides on the the left, right or somewhere close to unbiased reporting.

The gutter media posting this news as a "cut" is a bit misleading as its not a cut but a freeze and that term is more accurate. Thank you.

Looks like they will sell C4 too even though it's books financially are good. BBC bias in the political arena. I'd be inclined to say any party in power and perhaps trying to get in power could say much the same.

The complaints about the apology make me laugh. I noticed without being told that Boris repeatedly inferred that the enquiry may clear him. He's looking for a get out. An apology would just be that. There was no need for loads of woffle, a political speciality. Reports on other politicians views on Boris and what may happen to him have been even handed. Comments from undisclosed sources - nothing new about that.

There are people about who see both C4 and the BBC as left leaning snowflakes. This often seems to be down to reporting what they see as snowflake aspects that are down to the people who want the changes - often the people in power. Asking a right winger an awkward question is also seen as being a left wing snowflake. These people would rather look at right wing sources maybe but often they will be reporting the same.

The is a Tory that crops up on the box more of late. ;) Looking fatter now. First time he mentioned scrapping the license and followed it by the comment that they only fine single mums for not paying it. There is a proportion of people who don't want to pay it. There is also a proportion of people who watch some of it. It's not possible to have a channel that suites all all of the time. It also has to be paid for. Another Murdoch maybe? If they flog it some one will own it.

Good point.
If the BBC was sold to a private buyer, would it be any more impartial than it is now.
If privately owned the quality of its output would probably go down and with subscription fees along with wall to wall advertising it would hardly be worth watching.

Not so much government controlled as controlled by private interests who support the Tory party.

No it hasn't been "cut".

**** me, no wonder nobody takes journolism seriously anymore.

Anyway, any reduction in income is good news.
It's a dead and dying public institution.
YT and the like have utterly taken over.
Nobody watches that TV anymore.

Don't get me started in our RTE....

But the serfs will only moan when they realise what they have lost...

Do you think that climate change would be as high up on the agenda were it not for BBC funding for Attenborough?

And the so called political bias is often only mentioned by rabid consumers of such rags as the mail/express/torygraph...

I don't think there's any suggestion that the BBC will be flogged.
I understand the proposal is for BBC to finance the channel via subscription.

But I bet we'll still have to pay the licence fee.

It could be the start of a gradual process to get rid of the BBC.

Corrected for you...

'It is the start of a gradual process to get rid of the BBC'

Governments hate public organisations that tell the truth...

Thus in order to kow tow to their puppet masters they privatise as much as they can or get rid of...

Sadly the serfs don't understand that the darkness slowly creeping over their eyes is carefully prepared wool! (n)

I've thought of the BBC as a swirling cesspit of filth for a long time now, but despite it being hijacked by the worst of the snivelling left wing scum it is essentially still our last outlet of even remotely independant news.

It's been laying the foundations for a license free world for a number of years now, ask anyone who has even a slight association with showbizz about BBC Studios !

What worries me is now that the cards are on the table it is going to throw a corporate poo at the fan & increase the rate which it embezzles its ever decreasing free money pot.

I've be surviving lawfully without a TV license for nearly a year. I don't miss it.
