What did you consider a luxury growing up?

Mate had an Imp van. He had a wheeled dexion frame made up so he could slide the engine out in no time. He/we played with it - Webers, racing cam/clutch, electronic ignition (dead posh), very sharp off the lights.
The rear got dented, so he tied a rope to it and round the 3ft square supporting concrete column of a uni hall of residence, then did some drag starts so the jolt tugged at the bent metal. The police were called because he was apparently trying to pull the building over....

I had an 850 mini then. Bought for £50 I think, it had only been used for shopping. First time we took it to 60mph it spat steam from the heater valve, and the dynamo bearing broke. That was day 1.
We cleared a bit of rust from the floor so there were holes in the right places, to let the water out, sorted the leak problem.
It had those sliding windows so was too easy to get into, so I didn't lock the doors, just used a Krooklock. I started off taking the rotor arm out all the time, but then I lost it somewhere - embarrassing.
One day someone hacksawed the Krooklock and drove it off (one swap of a wire under the dash and a prod of the button on the starter solenoid) but my masterful antitheft device worked. The fuel pump was electric, and in the boot by the battery. I'd fitted a hidden switch and a relay, which turned the fuel pump and gauge off, and made a clicking noise like a dry pump. The car stopped after a hundred yards appearing to have no petrol.
Later in its narrative, someone drove into the back of it. I got £150 as it was technically a write-off. I used it for another year then sold it to my brother for £50. He stretched he dented boot out, and sold it for a profit to someone who rolled it...

Saab - ah well I had a 900. The ignition switch/reverse gear lock thing broke while it was parked at Tescos so it had to stay there overnight. I got a lift home, then cycled back with parts. I fixed it and was putting the bike in the boot when some Tesco person rushed out accusing me of nicking the bike. :)

Mate did something similar. Had a Mk1 Escort that he pranged in the front. Attached some chains to the front of the car and a lamp post. Reversed a few times and good as new. Happy days!
