I don't know about Obama, but I thought Trump was a good friend of this country. But despite that Trump still wasn't in the mood to give us a trade deal, was he. And neither was Obama before him. All the same reason - NI
The only way to sort this out is either for NI to reunite with the south, queue "The Troubles", part 3 (only this time it'll be the Prods blowing stuff up) OR the UK should at least rejoin the Customs Union, stick to the agreements we have with the EU (incidentally, our largest single trading partner) and by doing that HMG will make it far easier for UK plc to actually export stuff and earn the country some much needed money. Or doesn't that matter?
I'd be quite happy for NI to unite with Eire. As for the 'troubles', the Irish have always enjoyed fighting with each other so I'm sure they'd be very happy in their own way.
I'd also be happy for the UK to rejoin the Customs Union, but anything more political than what we had with the Common Market is unacceptable. Napoleon tried it and lost; Hitler tried it and lost; the only way the EU succeeded was due to fifth columnists in our leadership.
