New Friend 7.3kg so far

I joined one of those,
The lady I mentioned had a different idea. Maybe up to a dozen people, various dogs and say a 1/2 hr walk, Streets. It worked pretty well but not when the dog was in the car. Always other dogs about during training and advice as well. No controls just get on with it.

One GS didn't like kids wearing hoodies etc. More normally dressed and usually ok. Suppose it's because they look different however a rescue so may be from experience.

One thing that struck me about AS is inbreeding but it crops up in all dogs at some point to try and preserve various things. The latest with AS is blue merles. Merles seem to be popping up in many breeds. Looks like the desire comes from the USA. I noticed that the kennel club appears to have a thing about blue merl AS depending on their ancestry - too many genetic problems if inbred. However, wanted, likely to be the most expensive so............. TBH I would avoid them but other breeds are being selected for the same gene. (; It seems there is one.

No problems at the vets. She has had most of the vaccinations UK dogs are encouraged to have. Just one short. And checks out ok. Simplest answer is UK jabs as they are usually given from scratch :( £75 puppy plan includes tablets for 3months and the jabs.

Couldn't find anything wrong with the passport. She's not sure if they can do the periodic checks any more for EU passports. We wont be going overseas with the dog anyway.

LOL The passport is for the dog. Chip matches and now registered to me. Another £15. I should have asked the vet if they could do it but they usually chip as well. There are lots of sites that can register them - looks like a money game for little work to me. I get 4 months free pet insurance with the one I used - same company as the kennel club use. It lapses automatically after 4 months so suspect we will get stuff in the post to continue with it.

It worked pretty well but not when the dog was in the car.

She used to be a problem watching for and barking at other dogs, when she was in the car, then for months she stopped that behaviour and simply laid down. Now that misbehaviour seems to have returned, though not quite as bad as it was.

My present BC has blue merle on her front legs, her step brother had it on all four legs, her step sister was almost entirely blue merle. The latter was the one which died at 3 of a brain tumour.

 It seems there are 3 versions of Australian Shepherds. Standard, min and toy. It's making feeding her a bit tricky - now much to give. Weight wise at the moment she may be a mini. The standard can vary rather a lot anyway. The quantity given is set by age and eventual max weight.

2 meals a day totaling 300g, same as I fed my last GS as an adult. Suppose I will have to keep an eye on fat levels. There should be a thinnish layer on all dogs while still being able to feel ribs. Too little food can be a bad idea. She's having no problem eating the 300 and is keen to get at it.

Knock the French? Curiously France can be a useful source of technical info but usually needs google translate. Not this one though
