Despite what some are saying, it’s not all growth and prosperity in the EU.

Brexers like mottie voted to resign from Europe without knowing what the effects would be. Mottie is one of those who doesn't care how much the nation is damaged.

That's why he continues to support the act of vindictive folly.

…says Notch as his hand slides down his trousers…….
A very persuasive argument assessing the damage to the nation caused by Brexit

Oh, no, it isn't

Just perverted ramblings.

That should be the working title of de Piffle's autobiography.
Grow up. 2 extracts

Industrial action has been combined with public protests as Spanish workers look for their wages to keep up with the country’s inflation rate, and while demonstrations have so far been relatively peaceful, the British Foreign Office is now highlighting the danger of “incidents of unrest or violence”.

Following events in the last week that have seen mass rallies in the country’s capital Madrid, rail services across the country disrupted, and separate pro-independence protests in Barcelona that saw the airport and major roads blocked, the UK Foreign Office issued the following warning:

All is sweetness and light here isn't it. None of the above - really?

It would be a foolish mistake to pretend that unrest in one country suffering high unemployment indicates Europe-wide instability.

It would be even more foolish to speak as if a country with a revolving door of Prime Ministers, Cabinet Ministers and top Civil Servants is a model of stability.

A stopped clock and all that....Click me.
It's not. Poorly explained. Brexit has caused a drop in GDP and exports. The reduction in workforce doesn't really relate. What has happened there is that while low unemployment levels nave been quoted the number of economically inactive people has increased significantly.

Unemployment numbers are not the numbers of people who are out if work.

For example, the number of people receiving unemployment benefits is currently over 1.5 million.

There are also people unemployed but not receiving benefits, for example if they have adequate savings.

There are some older people who have lost their job or been made redundant and were able to start taking their pensions early

There are people who have searched for work, failed to find it, become discouraged and given up.

There are people who have become dependent on a partner.

Some of these show up as "economically inactive"

I heard that there are current 9m economically inactive people at the moment.

There are also plenty of people that are out of work - so they show up on figures and claim benefits, but they are also in work. Tradesmen, car washers, window cleaners, cab drivers, nail technicians, mobile hairdressers……..

So true, there's a reason a lot work part time so as not interfere with their benefit claims along with not declaring a partner living with them.

They have to work a certain number of hours to get the benefits. Talk of increasing these hours. True if an unemployed person can get cash in hand jobs they may do that. ;) You think there are loads?? Some trades people who earn plenty will also do cash in hand jobs. Those are wonderful people of course.

The amount of money spent on checking people on benefits is being increased. This has been known to cost more than it saves Seems people in work will be getting a work advisor. Probably involve some getting another job meaning they have 2. Some are already doing that down to need. This will cost too.

Then comes the unfortunates. They don't get any support as earn a little more than the limit. They are due a hard time. Probably people on min wages that work longer hours.

Rental prices are on the increase. No fault evictions are being used. The increases mean yet more support needed to keep landlords happy. In some areas people are having to offer more than the advertised rent to get a place - sort of bidding war.

One area I have always been curious about is how the system works. Tax is collected and used to support people who don't earn enough to live. What's the balance. If these people earned more no need to collect the tax so those paying have more to spend. Some aspects of the gig economy mess it up. Lots effectively working part rather than full time. It may have been possible to get an idea about what is actually going on via working tax credit data. People who got that are working. Along comes UC and it's not possible to see what goes where as it covers all. Sure it all makes unemployment numbers sound better but ................................ Just how many are effectively working part time. Some need to. Kids can figure in that also the number of adults in a family that can work.

:) TBH I sometimes wonder when the bubble will burst.
