If the eu had put our money that we gave them to hand out back to us into the northern areas instead of propping up the guaranteed vote Brexit might not have happened.
... why do we join in with the charade of our political system, do we hang onto the belief it will right itself in the end.
...I support sale sharks and voted Brexit to throw one in the mix.
"Despite having the lowest GDP per capita in England, the North East England does not belong among the poorest regions in the European Union. It exceeds 75 percent of the average GDP in the EU which is why it is not entitled to the European funding under the Convergence objective. Regions that fall under the Convergence criteria receive more than 80 percent of the so-called Structural Funds which provide financial support to projects that stimulate regional development and reduce disparity between the regions both within the EU member states and the EU itself. However, the North East England is entitled to the funds that fall under the objective Regional competitiveness and employment that focuses on stimulation of regional development as well."
Maybe that helps answer your question in regard to EU funding in the north of England.
As bad as you things appear to be it's still not as bad as Eastern countries in the EU which needed huge investment after the years of Soviet domination.
We take part in the democratic process in this country because the alternative is to elect a Presidential candidate from one of two parties and hope 'our guy' wins to bestow blessings and benefits upon all those who voted for them - those who did not are left to fend for themselves, best they can. The disparity in this country goes back centuries and voting Tory in the northern 'red wall' constituencies led to all those former Labour voters hoping they'd finally receive funding from London instead of Brussels: how's that workin' for ya?
Not so good, eh?
You voted for de Piffle because he was so jolly and fun, promising to cut through red tape, break away from the EU shackles and lead you all to 'sunlit uplands' but instead of the happy clown capering before you before his election, he turned into 'Pennywise' and ate the children of your own revolution, dancing on their graves as covid took away all our freedoms (apart from his, naturally) and brought us to another version of Tory Austerity. You voted for de Piffle to 'throw one in the works' but that never works. It's self-centered sabotage.
de Piffle's doin' alright: a cool quarter mil' in his pocket for after-dinner waffle since he left office - how you doin'?
Reckon he'll drop a tenner in the relief fund for northern voters? Dream on, dude.
Two more years of Austerity 2.0 awaits us all, regardless of how you voted, but you can bet the characters who brought us to this will be just fine. Oh yes. Just ****ing peachy. Democracy never dies, it just mutates into another version of itself and carries on feeding off the gullibility of voters who hope it's their turn to feel the warm trickle of benefits from upon high.
Ye Gods i'm bored wih bloody Bre*it.
