That they were trying to protect the BBC cameraman from being exposed to COVID.

Really?

Having seen the footage, what it does NOT look like is Chinese police officers leading someone away from an area of threat of infection.

We won't challenge them, we aren't strong enough.

remember the assaulted people at the diplomatic building recently?

all hushed up, moved out of the public eye. Exactly as happens in China.

I read the title and wondered if this was a new variation on "Simon Says"

Funny how we never see the run up. Only the action.

Kind of related, part of the (growing) challenge is the dominance of countries like China when it comes to trade. They were talking about this on a recent tv prog and the USA-China dynamic came up. Trade wise (2021 figures) the US exported $151 billion to China and imported $505 billion. Not sure how much of those imports need to come from China, however for all the flag waving in places like the US, they still like buying stuff from China, but moan about them in tandem. Funny old world.

Talk on the radio about this protest caper

The way they were going on one would think there is some type of revolution going on out there

The Chinese communist party is about to be over thrown

Jeez us wept

( China will sort out the protestors )

There were massive protests in Hong Kong in early 2020; 1 million (of Hong Kong's 7 million) people took to the streets and the Chinese couldn't control the mass.

And then a mysterious "virus" appeared.

Conspiracy theory, Andy? I'm more likely to believe in the C*ck-Up theory - as upheld by many of the actions of our last two PMs

At a basic level, it's weird when you think about it. I'm referring to the dynamic between a government and citizens. Without citizens, the government would have nothing to govern, indeed the country wouldn't exist. And yet, in many countries, citizens continue to be oppressed in various ways by their government/leaders. Although there's absolutely no guarantee their future would be any better (because it depends what fills the void) you do have to wonder what would happen in oppressed countries if the high majority of citizens took a 'f*** this we've had enough!' attitude and downed tools, taking to the streets in protest. By high majority I mean 75%+.

Yes, but if we did that here the government would brand us as leftie agitators and union members (or worse as French), whilst the red tops would be calling for the riot police to be let loose on them and for a total ban on protests. Oh wait...
