There's very probably nothing wrong with the existing DETA switch, which is obviously just a standard 'mechanical' intermediate switch.
However, the OP appears to want to change it to a touch switch - and I imagine a touch switch which allows the light to be controlled by three different switches (hence, presumably, the need for three compatible touch switches).

It is not an intermediate switch; it is a two-gang two-way switch.
That is true if there are two switch rockers on the front.
If it has only one rocker that operates both switches then it can be wired to act as a intermediate switch ( requires two links to be added )
I suppose all that is true, but ...
That is theoretically true, but if it were as you suggest, then it would be the electrical accessory with DPDT functionality which I could often have made use of but have spent decades looking for without success

He could, but although I'm not really a betting man, I think I'd put a fair bit of money on what the front looks like - if not, all my years/decades of looking for a DPDT 'standard electrical accessory' (not including massive DP 'Changeover Switches') will have eventually come to a satisfactory conclusion@Headtotoes You could prevent a lot of bickering by showing a picture of the front of the new switch.

Trendi use a common backplate that they slot modules into. The switches clip onto the front.
Why would you need to create a unique intermediate module, when two standard 2-way modules will do - and then you make the electrician do the work.
The OPs intermediate isn't modular in the same way, but it will save money by using the standard two gang 2-way switches, with a 1-gang front plate.
