Reduce Voting age to 16

You can join up at 16 but with parents consent and you won't see action till your 18 possibly 18 and a few months in infantry roles (cant remember that bit exactly. It's like being in the scouts really. You can do a paper round at 14 and some babysitting. Maybe you should call for votes for 14 year olds. They know what's what.
Normal for most people. Paye starts at age 16 by law. Voting starts by law at 18.

There is the difference

mitch66 is right. Both my sons joined the Army at 16, Junior Leaders Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps. My oldest lad was sent to Northern Ireland, with the Royal Tank Regiment, at seventeen & a half. After 3 months of serving in a war zone, he was quickly taken off the streets, & told he was too young. He signed a waver, which allowed him to serve, he spent the next 3 months with a GMPG in a watch tower at the Maze prison.

It's about time that if you can join the army at 16, work full time, change your name, be prosecuted for underage sex - then you should be able to vote as well.

Time voting was given to 16 year olds - it's their future that matters.

I'll been suing who ever never let me vote at 16.

Does anyone know who it was?

Between paying tax and voting! Yeah just a bit.

Ever had an original idea?
Have you kept up with this thread , or just joined in to snipe ?

The point was, law says you have to pay tax on earnings at 16 but cant have any vote. Right or not, is the issue

Now, you have a go

I think the voting age should be lowered to the age of 3.

The 2 party's politics will then be reduced to the argument of whether we're having food or ice cream for tea.

Which will make it much easier for the rest of us to choose who is worthy of power.

Proportional Representation is the work of the devil. It (usually) prevents a single party having a clear majority and causes fragile coalitions which can collapse on a whim, triggering further "horse-trading" or expensive elections (which can result in much of the same). Preferential representation is a much better idea, as it allows the re-distribution of votes for minor (low-polling) candidates until a single candidate has a majority vote. I would also like to see it made compulsory to vote with persistent refusals punished by disenfranchisement.

First day out of school and paying tax end of the week. You actually think 16 year olds are capable of voting ?

That’s my point.

No.

What we need is a beneficial dictatorship.

Self awareness was never one of your strong points.

Don't expect sniper carman to give a reply he doesn't give answers when he's lost the argument, he moves on to his next target. A never ending prophecy you could say.

Are they capable of paying tax?

But not allowed to have a view on it.

Perhaps education should include more of what the world is about to help prepare them. Its never a simple answer to any situation. But if you want to tax someone they should have some choices too.

Or maybe raise tax threshold to age 18 instead

Snipe snipe snipe.

Lost the argument to you? Ever ?
