Yes - though the Beeb version is not the best..

There is more detail in this version https://apnews.com/article/france-u...nel-crossing-b09e35709e13d7c5677dbd717934b080

Anyone got the original report ?

It really doesn't say much and I certainly found nothing to support @JohnD's claim that they were short on intel related to gangs operating in Britain.
Frogs need millions from us or they can't see what's going on in and around Calais.
£44m wasn't enough , that had to go on "microwaves and phone chargers" so we're sending half a BILLION quid over 3 years.
That should be enough to fund some drones and patrols. Confiscate the boats and engines, send the crims back to crimland.
Can't fail, unless of course French would rather get rid of the migrants to , say, Britain.

They seem to be overwhelmingly successful in stopping the boats at the moment, or the migrants are not so keen to get here - the weather's putting them off?
Or the peeps doing the counting CBA any more:
Perhaps the reason for lack of intelligence from the UK is that they couldn't find any. People with intelligence or without. ??

No illegals this entire week have avoided being sent to Rwanda. The Rwanda policy is working.

Are you in a weatherless bubble over the last few days?

This bit seems relevant

Concerning the ways in which the migrants are arriving, the references or serial numbers of boats or engines, and the nationalities, the information seems very fragmented," the court concluded.

If we have ANY intelligence that might help, why aren't we sharing it ?

But let's keep blaming anybody we can

I would agree that we should share ANY information that might help, but there is nothing to conclude we don't.

I don't know if you've seen the photos of the custom build illegal immigrant boats, which are apparently being manufactured in China or Germany and smuggled in to France, but they aren't the sort of boats that would have a serial number. I also very much doubt the traffickers register these vessels in accordance with French maritime law.

But clearly there are some commercial vessels being used.

So its one thing to say we aren't sharing, its another to say, more work needs to be done to gather intel.

Frustratingly it's costing £500k a year to store them. Some of them seem very serviceable and could easily be auctioned off.

Most look like this:

Either we are sharing ANY information we have that may or may not help.

If we aren't then I understand the French comment.

You may think it's OK to blame others regardless

It was a comment of fact
Wouldn’t you expect them to have better intelligence about criminal activity in France rather than rely on british intelligence?

Thats not blame, thats simply a comment that operationally they are more likely to have better intel on criminal activity in France.

You do note that the claims of "poor collaboration" are disputed?

So it's disputed that we aren't sharing ANY intel.

Hard of thinking again.

Not downloading that on my phone.

Anything in there that makes you think that we are sharing everything we can

My French is better spoken than read..

But this is the key paragraph. p40 / 41

The summary is - they have 8 people dedicated and we have 7 and they aren't getting enough good quality information about the state of the migrants, the serial numbers of the boats and the collaboration is therefore unbalanced in the exchange of information. i.e. they tell us more than we tell them.

When you read it, it does seem true that the reports are quite old.

How are they forced by us?

Would you also agree that a burglar is forced to rob houses to feed his desire to buy illegal drugs?
