Conduit for BT Fiber cable.

Hi, BT are calling next week to install Fiber. I have an asphalt drive at the front of my house where I park our car and two side parts with topsoil and a few plants. They want to cut a track in my asphalt from an outside footpath to my house, well, they did the last time they called to install fiber and I said no, I'd reather they didn't do that, so that ended that.
I have a wall to each side of my house between me and my neighbours and on the our side of the wall I have topsoil with a few plants etc and I'm wondering if I had conduit of some sort along the wall from the outside footpath to my front door, could they not bring the fiber through that?

Any thought?

From your description, if it would terminate near where they could access it at the road side - yes!

Rigid conduit would be easier to get a draw-wire through, than flexible, cheaper, and easier to bury. Limit the bends to shallow ones, and only two - one down, one back up.

Thanks, if BT were happy to use the flexable conduit they could pust the fiber through it first then fix the conduit to the wall.
I might get the flexable conduit and have it here, just in

The ridges inside the flexible, make pushing anything through, an awkward and slow process. Rigid it smooth on the inside, so much easier to get cables etc. in. I understood you had in mind, to bury it - flexible along a wall, will look much worse than rigid conduit, it will droop between the fixings.

Better to pre-empt BT fixing the conduit - fix it where/how you want it, make it easy for them, and they will make use of it.

Personally I doubt it would pass muster. BT ducts to the home (single dwelling unit) are 54mm and grey and buried to at least 250mm depth with a detectable marker tape during backfill ... pretty invariably with a draw cord installed to pull a cable or fibre through.

Though never say never. You may get lucky.

That will avoid whoever has to install, having to struggle to get a draw-wire through, once it's buried or what ever. Any reasonable wire, or even a thin rope will do.

Simple it allows the fibre installers to pull the new cable through the ducting.

This is precisely what i did before virgin media came to do our installation. The guys were so surprised that this was ready for them. They were done in less than half an hour

and that is what I did too - a draw wire from the eaves, through into the main loft. It helps to persuade the installer, to do it the way you want it, because it makes it quick and easy for them..

When drawing the fibre through, if they also draw another draw string through at the same time, then you'll still have a draw string in the conduit in case you ever need to pull anything else through
