The independent reviewer of terror laws has said today that more information should have been released on the evening of the attack:

But Jonathan Hall KC told BBC Panorama that the authorities could, and should, have released more information after the attack.

"The public could have been told immediately that there had been an attack by a 17-year-old male who was black, British, born in Wales and has lived in the UK all his life," he told us.

"That he comes from a Rwandan background, and as far as the police were aware, from a Christian background. That it was not possible to say whether he had an ideology or that he was a terrorist. But the police are looking at, at pace, all the material that they found."

It might have taking the edge off the Farage riots but there a few key words in their that might just have made them worse. Shamefully, one poster on here followed the trend by posting fake information about the murderer.

The originator of the Farage Riots, Nigel Farage MP, really doesn't like them being referred to as the Farage Riots. So Denso, please refrain from referring to Mr Farage's riots as the 'Farage Riots'. Farage Riot Man of Clacton (rarely) thanks you (superficially).

What I am interested in is that lots of people have claimed that if more information was released, the riots wouldn't have happened. Would the information suggested above have prevented the riots?

I'll say this again, everyone should be treated equally in the eyes of 'the law.'

Regardless of race, religion, skin colour, sex, if the authorities are certain re description of the perpetrator, release the details. The only exception to this should be if the details are considered to be best withheld by the authorities e.g. in the interests of national security i.e. decision not based on the aforementioned descriptors.
