What have you been doing today?

Been over the plot of Mott today. Sewn a load of seeds I had from last year. Runner beans, French beans (dwarf and climbing), Borlotti beans, two types of tomato, courgettes (green and golden), aubergines, sprouts, cauliflower, strawberry’s, butternut squash, pumpkins, ted cabbage, leeks, red chilli's, purple sprouting broccoli and a few more I can’t remember. While I was there, I got collared into cutting tge grass pathways. Gotta do your bit for the allotment. Oh, and I had a play with my drone too.

Would it be possible to fly the drone upside down and cut the grass at the same time?

Back to the tyres - When blowing the tyres up, the display went blank on my expensive PCL digital gauge, with it's calibration document. It uses a rather unusual button cell, so I had to put one on order. I like to keep my tyre pressures spot on, all of them, so I know there are no leaks.

It never rains, but....

The strange size, replacement button cell arrived, but failed to fix the PCL gauge....

So I ended up pulling it apart to see why. The button cell fitted in a thin, slide into the side, shaped to fit the cell, plastic carrier, with the -ve contact etched onto the PCB. The problem was, the plastic carrier was holding the cell away from the contact face on the PCB. I would have thinned it down a bit, except the carrier was already desperately thin and delicate. As a workaround, I made the -ve contact of the cell protrude more - I folded up some cooking foil, taped that to the -ve contact, exposed so it would push into place, with the cell and the plastic carrier. A terrible design Mr PCL, not what you expect, from an expensive, premium product.

Went over our daughters today in Enfield. Our son and his wife and our grandchildren came too. She lives quite near to Forty hall so we had a little walk over the estate. Of course, I took the drone and got a good shot of us all together.

Lovely!

I don't think I've seen the legendary Mrs Mottie before.

I was given a DJI mini 2 drone from a lad at work, the boss had had a go and crashed it so the middle frame needed replacing.

He had no clue but given my background he asked me to change it for him, just a little soldering and following a youtube video.
5 hours later I'm reassembling it and I run into a problem that needs some new parts (gimbal rubbers).
TBH I enjoyed it, it forced me to tidy my desk so I can do it (a rare occasion lol), I guess I'll continue it next weekend.

Dashed out quickly tonight to go to Sainsburys, wondered why I got a few strange looks, looked down and…….
