GPs to get £20 bonus for keeping patients out of hospital

how is it going to do that?

the £20 goes to the practice not the GP

using the Advice and Guidance system rather than a referral increases the workload for the GP and the practice.

"GP practices are able to claim £20 for each 'episode of care', which could include several interactions with specialists."
You do realise that most practises are actually owned by the GP`S or several of them.
You clearly havent got a clue about how a GP`s surgery works the extra work you talk about for the GP is the press of a task button informing the secretary/admin to do an a&g instead of a referral so no additional work at all for the practise

Surgeries/Practices are private businesses owned by GP's. Been that way since the founding of the NHS.
I know thats the point I'm making

although GP practices arent really private in any sense, Drs and nurses salaries are set by the NHS, the amounts they get paid for patients are all set by the NHS.

Im not sure there is much private enterprise in reality

Really no private medicals for taxi drivers/lorry drivers / car accidents / insurance report etc etc they used to get a payment for signing bodies off for cremation that stopped last year

Hard to see how it improves the service when the Guardian reports Patients’ satisfaction with GP services has collapsed in recent years as family doctors have switched to providing far fewer face-to-face appointments, new research has revealed. The proportion of patients seeing a GP in person has plummeted from more than four-fifths (80.7%) in 2019 to just under two-thirds (66.2%) last year. Telephone appointments have almost doubled over the same period from 13.4% to 25.4%. Those undertaken by video or online, including some in which patients fill in an online form but have no direct interaction with a GP, have risen almost eightfold from 0.6% to 4.6%.

practices are a business, the money goes to the practice.

you clearly dont know

it absolutely does increase workload

a survey showed: "More than three-quarters (78%) said it was increasing their workload"

"Another GP, who wished to remain anonymous, commented: ‘It’s a massive time drain keeping an eye on this. It adds clinical risk and delays care. Often you get messages back telling you to do a load of tests or provide more information – it’s draining.’"

"But sometimes a referral results in an advice and guidance response listing investigations, treatment, and repeat assessments to be done. This can be a huge transfer of work, there may be tests I can’t access or can’t interpret, and clinical responsibility is still with the GP, I think.’"

notch talking absolute nonsense not understanding that the GPS own the practise .
Arranging an A an G is the press of a button the GP doesnt do it and it doesnt take any longer for admin to do than a referral.
Oh doctors getting told that they should have done the proper diagnosis first before actually referring or AanG perhaps its hard to do them over the phone . You know like doing telephone appointments for the likes of skin cancer etc

Poor old notch talking nonsense a member of my family is head of admin for one of the biggest practises in the country and its part of her job to claim all this money and do all this so called additional work.....

. Edit and its not about signing death certs its about cremation certs

Now lets think where that additional 20 quid goes yep into the practise that then becomes part of the practise profits that then gets split between the GP`s who own it ...talk about notch being so thick that he cant understand it .
Its not utter ****** it is the press of a button
Poor old notch is struggling with the FACT that GP`s are doing far far less face to face appointments and attempting diagnosis over the phone .

.
Poor old Notch getting a semi and having to mention Trump in a thread about UK GP`S

recover overheads comedy gold template letters etc press of a button to send medical records in many cases . Medicals done over the phone in a 5 minute phone call( has anything changed from last time ok letter will be with you)
Poor old notch doesnt know how to run a business that makes a profit on its services and not just cover overheads .
Comedy gold coming up with your knowledge about gp surgery finances those must have been some badminton games

headlines are just clickbait

invariably they do not match the article at all..............as is true in this case
no need to argue for the same of arguing Notch. I merely pointed out that.

My thoughts: you should read the article, which does not say what you claim.

Nowhere in the article does it say Drs would get £20 for keeping patients out of hospital.
is it exactly what the headline says. So Nwgs2 hasn't "claimed" anything. He's literally quoted the articles.

Drs arent like Tory MPs
Some are criminals.
