GHIC

Would be VERY expensive for Brits abroad in the EU if it had been withdrawn.
It was withdrawn due to Brexit, after the expiry of the current cards.
Except for visitors to Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway. They will continue. If they don't the GHIC card does not apply in those countries.

The EHIC is required by UK residents visiting those countries. A GHIC won't cut it.

A EHIC is not accepted in those countries.

"….While you can still use your EHIC in EU countries, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein have opted out of accepting these cards".

Thanks but I've already seen that, It makes no mention of the 'success' of the GHIC that you refer to.
It does however refute your claim that the EHIC will be totally replaced by the GHIC.
Whatever Himmy. Now on ignore. Bye.

The two consecutive paragraphs provide conflicting information.

Who can still apply for an EHIC?

Applications for a new EHIC are still open to some individuals. Those who are eligible include:

  • EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Swiss nationals who were UK residents before January 1st, 2021
  • British State Pensioners residing in the EU or the countries mentioned above before the specified date
  • UK students making a home in these countries for their studies prior to the start of 2021

Which countries accept EHIC?

It's important to note that not all countries are on board with the pre-2021 EHICs. While you can still use your EHIC in EU countries, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein have opted out of accepting these cards.

And later:

What is the GHIC?

The Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC), is the UK's answer to EHIC in the post-Brexit era.

This card offers similar benefits for UK citizens but comes with its geographical limitations—it's not accepted in Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein. Switzerland, meanwhile, applies the same limitations to GHIC as it does to EHIC.

So on top of the necessary change over, misinformation and confusion reigns supreme.
