Do you kill spiders?

The way I see it is these creature were here long before humans were and will be long after we are gone.

Who am I to disrupt their activity?

And they keep the flies, moths and mozzies down.

But my missus is still terrified of them. WTF?

When we were kids, we had a big spider that appeared regularly in the lounge that my Mum named Septimus. He seemed to be around for several years. Not sure how long they live for.
Isn't Septimus one of rees sprogg’s kids?

Up until a couple of years back, if I saw a spider in the house, 9 times out of 10 it was goodbye spider. These days, I feel more comfortable catching them in a glass and throwing them outside (yeah yeah and they probably come straight back in!) Or sometimes I just leave them be.

So, are you a spider killer or do you take the more humane approach?
Let them be unless required to move them, if they are difficult to get to they are squashed.

Catch them and throw them out.
The only thing I kill intentionally is house flies, they are the big game on my local safari.

I hate them with a vengeance! Horrible, dirty things. I only got the fly screen out 10 days ago, to keep them out. We only normally use the side/back door, and the magnetic close screen, covers that. Windows are never opened, until after dark, to vent the heat out, is the weather is hot. The screen was supposed to be installed using sticky velcro, around it's perimeter, but we found that hopeless, so I made up a timber frame, which screws in place, from 15mm x 15 timber. It all just folds, and rolls up, when it is taken off.

Maybe related to our Septimus then, ours survived for several years. Not seen him for a while though. Maybe he outgrew the house, because I now have a massive one in my workshop - I hear him rustling, when I go in and turn the lights on. Several times I've been working too close to him, and he has reared up in a very threatening manner.

Spiders schmiders.

It's getting up early to find a slug has slithered into the kitchen.

They get a good squishing

shoot them down with elastic bands - rarely hit them on the move, but when they settle on something take aim and shoot
That’s exactly what i do too. Buy them in the hundreds off Ebay for a few quid.
With a bit of practice it's surprising how accurate they are even over several metres.
Might as well have some fun whilst exterminating the dirty little annoying gits and what a feeling when you manage to shoot one down mid flight. :)

I didn't know you could buy them on ebay - I just go after the ones that come in the house naturally.
;)

We used to get a green slug in the kitchen at night, but only if the light was off.

Used to think it was cleverer than the usual slugs.

Evicted him, though. Still came back!
