What have you bought today?

I've got lots of soldering irons around the place, but only my bench one, is temperature controlled, and my garage/workshop was due a better one, to replace the rather old one in there. I spotted a cheap 60w one on Aliexpress, £2.50, complete with a range of spare bits, so thought why not. I wasn't really expecting it to be genuinely temperature controlled, rather just on/off duty ratio switched to set the rough temperature. I ordered a UK version, expecting it to need the illegal plug to be cut off and replaced.

It arrived yesterday, with an EU plug, so I swapped that, and put it on test. It does seem to be temperature controlled, judging by the sharp wattage change I measured, as the temperature setting was adjusted. When replacing the plug, the flex turned out to be copper coated steel, but for £2.50, I'm not complaining.

Another two years of Nord VPN. Bought through TopCashback so will end up costing me around £45

My TV app has a free VPN, don't use it much at all though.
I use mine mainly for watching live US streamed sports content on my firestick as well as on our phones and iPads when in public spaces and for being able to watch U.K. based live content when out of the country. I can use mine on up to 10 different devices. I did consider trying a free vpn but the general opinion is that free ones are worth every penny you pay for them! I change email addresses every two years as like many things, you get a new subscriber discount. To renew mine, they were asking £140 FOR 1 YEAR! Based on that, £45 for two years is quite a bargain.

Lovely round there, and some great restaurants.
We’ve been to lake Garda three times before. Always stayed in the Hotel Eden in Sirmione which I would recommend to anyone. This time we are staying at the other end of the lake in Riva Del Garda.

I didn't explain it very well. It isn't one of the free VPNs it's a one of the best, but comes free with my "package".

Not a purchase but a free set of headphones from the post code lottery ,

Always stayed in the Hotel Eden in Sirmione

I never got there, I mostly enjoyed the enjoyable drive around the east and west sides, plus Riva Del Garda. I was living out of a motel, just a couple of miles west of Brescia.

Riva Del Garda.

There is reputed to be lots of Hitler's gold stashed in the lake not far from there.

(y) I’ll keep an eye out for it. ;)

If you find it, remember who tipped you off about it

We regularly pop in Lidl, it's more or less our corner shop, it's so near to home. I have three, different tool items in the 20v battery range, but only two batteries, so a few weeks ago, I decided to pick up a third battery, but absolutely none to be had. we've each habitually asked, each and every time either of us went in, but staff suggested they no longer put them out on the shelves, because 'they get pinched', if you are stuck, they have them on Ebay. On Ebay, they were wanting £24 to £35 for a 2amp battery, and I am just really not that desperate.

Today, we popped in, to do a 'big shop'. I spotted one of the assistants, sorting shelves out and asked, so he popped through the back to check, and came out with a 2ah, and a 4ah, as he came out, Avril also separately spotted him, to ask him.

I've just checked the receipt - £14.99 for a 2ah, that seems to be even cheaper, than they used to be.
