Women's football hurts my ears!

I find the standards acceptable now. It started off pretty dire.
The goalies aren't very good though. Maybe I'm sensitive to that because it was always what I got picked for on height grounds. Never enjoyed it though.

The lack of so many "professional" fouls is a very welcome aspect. Even so, my attention span is no longer than with the mens' game.

I am cheered by the fact that there are women's rugby leagues.
Women are often hampered in sport by having their body shape arranged for the purpose of producing kids, rather than chasing sabre toothed tigers. It's kinda nice that a rugby team has places for some like that.

The ladies footy team are the "lionesses". Mens rugby are the lions. Guess the mens footy team are the pussies?

I'm used to encountering the odd one or two insecure little boys on forums, but they seem to have found a home on here.
Perhaps it's about time you stopped being so frightened of women and grew up. Absolutely pathetic.

I've heard that but never seen it, any videos/ links?

Last night I found a video of the Australian women's team losing 3-0 to a team of 15 year old boys. Then I found a thread where somebody explained that it is common for women's teams to practice against boys teams of that age. They went on to say that sometimes they win, sometimes they lose. But only the losses get reported. I am actually really enjoying these Euros. Maybe I like it a bit slower now I am older!

I don't think it means much, some 15 year olds are 6 foot plus, Wayne Rooney was 16 playing for Everton and he was stronger than the grown men...

That's my thinking too. I thought the winner last night was really cool. The way she let it run between her legs then spun and smashed it in at the near post. Goalie at fault obviously. But it was still a great bit of skill.

I didn't see it i had to watch the England game with Turkish commentary lol, I'll be home for the final

I think they are quite skilful, but a bit lost on a man size pitch, a 75% pitch and goals would work so much better

As to the noise - I hate football commentary
at the best of times (esp when played on radio news, why do they think anyone wants to listen to an over excited commentated screaming a goal in?) but when that commentator is a woman it is 10x worse

one thing that is a little disturbing and must be showing my age - all those young women on the pitch and I fancy the manager - lol
I thought the same when watching some of the recent Euro games.

I think there's a reason we don't have the option to turn commentators off in all sports. The broadcasters likely know many (most?) viewers would press that button in a nanosec!

I often like the technical analysis bit of the commentary. It's the banal chit chat that does my head in. Like when Allie MCoist talks about local history and architecture. It's quite rare that they get the balance right.

I'm with you there. I was just going to finish reading the whole thread before commenting, but I'll go for it now.

There are a hell of a lot of misogynistic comments here, suggesting that, far from your belittling comments about how they would be beaten by a bunch of 15 to lads, you lot feel threatened by them. God knows why. Are you all that insecure?

As for that ironing board "joke", how many of you even use an iron and board? How many of you use washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers etc? Or is that all "women's work"?

I have noticed that women footy players don't writhe around on the ground when felled like the men. They get up and get on with it. And as for that goal at an angle? Not much space to aim for, but a cracking shot.

You're going to be telling me your average 15 yo lad off the street could do that next, aren't you?

Rubbish!

Intoxicat is right. Have a long hard look at yourselves and start acting the age you look in the mirror.

And see a shrink about working on that misogyny.
