Women's football hurts my ears!

Criticizing or pointing out the truth 15 year old boys beat the womens world champions ...Fact
14 year old boys beat the swiss national team . fact.
Its easy for the odd player to look good when playing against shyte .
That was quite a lucky goal last night from what was a shyte ball back across the box ;)
My lad played for Norwich at U16. It's an incredibly physical game, and the lads are taught to be intimidating in order to get the upper hand psychologically. It's a simple point of fact that no female would ever have been able to compete in that merciless arena.
It's about weight, power and speed.
It's like a Fiat 500 colliding with a Range Rover. Only one winner.

Only with stabilizers on ;) but the 77 year old goal keeper is diving all over the place and back up for the rebounds also some of those 70 + year olds are representing their countries at international level
Fair play! Love it!

Played quite a few times against veteran teams representing Norwich they seem to have a great set up and they get team coach to travel

I thought the same when watching some of the recent Euro games.

I think there's a reason we don't have the option to turn commentators off in all sports. The broadcasters likely know many (most?) viewers would press that button in a nanosec!
When match of the day pundits went on strike over hamas linekar, they just showed the football with the crowd noise - i thought that was wonderful, may be there should be an option, crowd noise or pundits

I'm with you there. I was just going to finish reading the whole thread before commenting, but I'll go for it now.

There are a hell of a lot of misogynistic comments here, suggesting that, far from your belittling comments about how they would be beaten by a bunch of 15 to lads, you lot feel threatened by them. God knows why. Are you all that insecure?

As for that ironing board "joke", how many of you even use an iron and board? How many of you use washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers etc? Or is that all "women's work"?

I have noticed that women footy players don't writhe around on the ground when felled like the men. They get up and get on with it. And as for that goal at an angle? Not much space to aim for, but a cracking shot.

You're going to be telling me your average 15 yo lad off the street could do that next, aren't you?

Rubbish!

Intoxicat is right. Have a long hard look at yourselves and start acting the age you look in the mirror.

And see a shrink about working on that misogyny.
do you feel we should move to non gender based sports - one england team, the very best 11 of either gener.

come to think of it - I have heard the term 'mens football' is that actually factual, is there such a thing? for instance is there any bar to a woman playing in the premiership? if they were good nugh could they be picked to play ?

So what?

It's great that women's football is getting good coverage. That may be because it's a cheap option for the broadcasters, but if it inspires females of all ages to get into a sport, that's a very good thing.

This is essentially the option I would like. Have the commentators on with crowd/venue noise in the background (essentially what we have now) or switch the commentators off so you only hear the crowd/venue.

Sometimes when watching snooker, I would love to just watch the match. I don't always want to hear a commentator giving spoilers 'he'll now screw back for that red above the pink and then apply side to come off the left cushion to play for the red below the black, then he'll ...'

I'll say again, I think the reason they don't offer it is because they know a fair few would elect to switch them off ;)

as to football commentary - how a about a bit of unbiased commentary from Alaster MaCalister from the 70s

and the state of the pitch! "who's that guy with the pristine shirt - GET INVOLVED"
and spitting after geoff hurst's name is mentioned

we seem to come from a better world than the one we have now

My mum bought me the 1978 Scotland world cup kit. It was in the bargain bin at our local sports shop. I've still got Rod Stewart's supporting single somewhere too.

Football teams are not made up of average people.
Noted, but with the discussion surrounding whether power and weight were relevant to success in Women's football, I found this stat quite interesting. Looking at the England forward line in particular, I noticed that they dominated the aerial battles v Spain. Perhaps that physical edge also gave them a psychological advantage.
I'm just thinking it through really. Anyway, I enjoyed the spectacle.

It was Andy Cameron who done the 1978 world cup song
