Locked out of a thread

it clearly suits you in the underhand way you post
Rubbish.

The method of cut and paste or sensible quoting/editing makes sense. If it is a detailed inquiring post with a multifaceted query, how can it possibly make sense to quote the whole paragraph, each time you wish to answer a point, rather than just select each point in question.

That would be utter stupidity.

It would have been clearer if noseall had written "No, I am not saying that".
No was the correct answer. Answering yes would have been a lie. MBK has had yet another embarrassing ‘head slap’ moment. The rest of his waffle is a cover for his incompetence.

I see no reason why it can't stand alone.
In your mind the question was not connected to the earlier denials? - that would be a strange conclusion.
Admittedly, the answer "No" is not very helpful.
It was intended to be so.
I have admitted that I misunderstood it.
He intended to be dishonest.
It would have been clearer if noseall had written "No, I am not saying that".

But I still have to agree that grammatically it is correct. Maybe he was having a bit of fun with us.
Only if it was a standalone question, which it wasn't.
Would you explain that a bit more please. And can I see your tree.
The imprecise rules of English Grammar, as taught to school kids, have move on a bit since the 70s. Not that any of this is relevant to the fact he denied editing quotes and evidence to the contrary was provided.

Here is the tree, the interjection (INTJ) is standalone from the question (SQ). There is no modifier, even in the second model. "So" or "So you are saying".. and of course the context is that it had already twice been denied.

I don't see the relevance. You asked a very closed question about a very specific new point. You received a very closed answer. I know that can be frustrating. People do it to me sometimes. What you should have then done is ask a more open question to clarify what was meant.

My head's starting to hurt thinking this through! I'll give it a go, though.

Wouldn't "I lied about something" or "I lied about everything" be a confession of lying.

Doesn't "I lied about nothing" mean you haven't lied.
