• Looking for a smarter way to manage your heating this winter? We’ve been testing the new Aqara Radiator Thermostat W600 to see how quiet, accurate and easy it is to use around the home. Click here read our review.

What have you been doing today?

Heard for miles around apparently. Local Facebook groups are saying it was a sonic boom. All I know is that it was f'cking loud and made me jump and think about taking cover!

Wouldn't you know it!

That's the chap I bought the i30 tourer from for my middle lad.
He’s just dropped the price £500. Just £2k profit if he sells it at this price. I thought he may have already had a buyer lined up when he made his offer as he did pay me over £1k more than WBAC and Motorway offered which I thought was rather generous from a dealer in the first place.

He's a decent guy. AA certified garage and when it came to arranging the sale, he said that two tyres and the front wiper blades on the car needed changing. I said that I had a preference for Bosch Aerotwin and that while he was doing the tyres, could I have Michelin CC2s all round?
He did me a cracking price for the parts too.

Track day yesterday at the old Aintree GP track. Only did half a day as we had friends visiting in the afternoon…but it wasn’t a bad thing as I cooked my brakes.

The Suzuki was the quietest car on track. It never looks very fast on video, but that was full beans. As my motion sensor indicated:

Some other more expensive and noisy cars also there too:

Started picking some crops at the plot today. Mrs Mottie said no more to be brought home at the moment - we’re swimming in veg. Stored some in the greenhouse.

I was going to take a couple home with me anyway but I couldn’t have fitted one of them in my top box.

How heavy is one?
Dunno but next time I go over there I might take a big bag and some scales. All I know is that it was bloody heavy and awkward to carry to the greenhouse - I felt like one of the contestants on that programme 'the worlds strongest man' when they have to lift stone balls onto pillars!

Have been in the garden over the last good few weeks trimming hedges and bushes and cutting the unwanted growth out of the hedges like oak, hazel, elderflower, cherry etc... all the things the birds and squirrels have planted/ buried under the hedge.

Over the last 5 weeks, I have filled the green bin with chopped up bits of what we have cut out. The rest, which is too thick to cut up with secateurs, I have chopped up with a saw and put in our wood store for use in the fire pit.

Running out of space....

I got rid of the stuff standing up near the wood store, just got to do the stuff on the table at the bottom of the garden.

I did want a wood burner, but I got out-voted. We get a new fireplace with a gas fire in a week or so.

I know, I know...wood have saved a fortune....all that fuel we are growing for free!

An appointment call today, from my kidney consultant, with some bad, but long expected news. He wants me in next month, to get me sorted for home dialysis. I was warned to expect it within two years, five years ago, where they offered me the option of hospital, at home, but I've somehow managed to delay it. I agreed to home, and one of the spare bedrooms, we set up the room up back then, in readiness for the day, when.

Just last week, my GP prescribed iron tablets, for my anaemia, and low stamina, but the consultant has said to stop bothering to take them, they are no very effective. He said they will schedule me to have intravenous iron, in a month, in hospital. I've had it intravenous before, and last time I seem to remember it had an almost dramatic, and instant effect on my stamina.

I'm just confused now, about the methods of dialysis. One description mentioned inserting cannula, another, plus the dialysis nurse, and consultant, on about plumbing permanent access pipes into me somewhere.
