The only problem with that proposal is those who have hijacked will assume the flying masses are agreeing with them and the non flying masses will easily be persuaded the same thing.Indeed - but, as I wrote earlier, one solution would be for large numbers of people to fly the flag, thereby diluting the 'abusers' to such an extent that there would be no adverse 'connotations' (and nor much point in continuing 'abuse of the flag' by a tiny minority).
Whilst I can understand what you say of yourself, as I've said I really don't think that we should allow the behaviour of a tiny minority to dictate what can comfortably be done by the majority (or reduce the 'freedom of choice' of that majority).
Personally I currently have 2 St George flags flying but my habits haven't changed and my neighbours know that, I just hope strangers don't think otherwise.
