Immersion hot water not lasting long enough!

Seen this plenty!
Bottom immersion fails and instead of being replaced, wiring just gets connected to top immersion... Always HA properties.
Why does this not surprise me at all if it is indeed the case with mine. And Clarion are not exactly amazing.

The thermostats seemed to be set to just over 60 degrees (I’ve attached photos of them again just to be sure)

Unless I’m blind but can’t see the immersion kw info on the cylinder (see attached)
From the photos at the beginning of this topic, both heaters are rated at 3Kw @ 240v.

Are Clarion responsible for maintaining the property? If so, call them back, explaining our findings, and suggest they sort the system out, to work as intended.

The suggestion that the bottom, E7 element has failed, then substituted with the upper boost element, seems to be the correct reason for your limited supply of hot water. I repeat - a 120L store of hot water, is more than adequate for a very hot bath.

The guy that came today didn’t seem to check everything either which I expect nothing less from Clarion operatives, he didn’t even isolate anything before taking the covers off the thermostats.

Run a bath again this evening and see photo of the measurement of hot water when finished before it turned cold and before I added any top ups from kettle and finishing with cold tap to get to right temp for me. And as I’ve estimated and measured before it is under 15cm deep.

Also added photo do the energy usage live whilst I turned on the boost to see, and it sees to prove it’s working as it should 3Kw top immersion when boosted. But is it working overnight properly that’s the question!

Very obviously not. As explained earlier, and I agree with the diagnosis - the lower element has failed, and whoever 'fixed it', simply linked the boost element, to operate on both the boost, and the E7, thus giving you that very restricted amount of hot water. It likely, needs either a new bottom element, or perhaps a replacement controller. Either could be at fault.

It's a major fault, and is easily sorted out properly.

I’m going to try and find a good independent electrician to come and have a look, don’t have a lot of faith with the repairs team from Clarion HA.

All H A's use contractors - the direct employed guys ( I was one ) went in the 90's(n)

Maybe so, but the guys from Clarion don’t seem to know a great deal or care too much and wear Clarion uniform and drive Clarion vehicles. Like you say, if they are contractors then they’re not amazing lol

If you are paying for maintenance, and they are failing to do that, then you could give them another chance to fix it, including a warning that if they fail - you will get an independent in to do it, and charge them for the work.

It's nowt of a job, to properly diagnose it, but a little more involved to fix it. Clarion haven't even managed to honestly diagnose it.

You do have a valid point here, definitely. I will do this and I think I’m going to email them as well so it’s in black and white too.
