On This Day

In 1915, the U.S. House of Representatives rejected, 204-174, a proposed constitutional amendment to give women nationwide the right to vote.

In 1935, aviator Amelia Earhart completed an 18-hour trip from Honolulu to Oakland, California, making her the first person to fly solo across any part of the Pacific Ocean.

Saw him Sydney 83, serious moonlight tour, probably the most theatrical gig I have seen RIP DB
Was lucky enough to have seen him at Glastonbury 2000 - the chaotic year with all the fence jumpers.

His performance is still up there at the top of my 'gig list'!

Despite being a lifelong fan I only saw him once at Wembley Arena and was hugely disappointed, he was only performing his 'Tin Machine' stuff. Morrissey supporting him was better but even he didn't do any 'Smiths' stuff I think for legal reasons.

Morrisey seems to have made a habit of it...

Great gig though, even if it was a wee bit loud.

Looking at the setlist for the Wembley concert in November that was likely part of the same tour. It would have been about 30 years ago I saw him.

He played Slough College in about 1972/3 but none of us had heard of him so we went to see Wishbone Ash at the Community Centre.

Never been to a music concert

Un - blocked a drain  just before Christmas for the son of the lead singer of Free and Bad Company recently installed into the Rock and roll hall of fame

In 2023, Israeli forces killed at least nine Palestinians and wounded several others in a large-scale raid on the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, the deadliest single operation in the territory in two decades.

An incident that led to the deadliest attack on Israel since its inception, ten months later.

In 1969, The Beatles staged an unannounced concert atop Apple headquarters in London that would be their last public performance.

Before hitchhiking around the galaxy Douglas Adams would regularly go in to London during those halcyon days but chose the day of the concert to not do so - one of their biggest fans, he never did see them live.
