Mandelson

That she was a wrong 'un.

On 5 September 2025, his report found that Angela Rayner, the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, had broken the Ministerial Code after she was found to have failed to pay enough stamp duty on the purchase of a property in Hove. She subsequently resigned from the Cabinet on the basis of this report.[10]
she got caught dodging taxes again. This time they weren't out of time. HMRC are still investigating her, though I suspect given the speed she addressed the underpayment they will simply charger her a fine and interest and maybe not even a fine.

If she become PM thats labour well and truly done for, but the damage she will do on the way will take decades to fix.

No way is Rayner coming back as leader, that would be like making two jags PM. David Millipede or Andy Burnam if you’re of a Bliarite disposition. The problem is most politicians today are second rate or worse.

Hardly a sin of commission, not an attempt to evade tax.

All this sort of thing:

is people pretending to be outraged over what was a genuine mistake because they fear that Angela Rayner would be a good leader, and they so don't want that.
Bikerboy seems to suggest she has been "caught again."

I don't see a link explaining the allegations.

Did I miss it?

She is a woman, and not a Tory, so perhaps he read it in one of his non-existent press releases.

You can always tell when the Tories are scared of someone, they try to flood the media with attacks.

Rayner scares them.

Generally when someone realises they have underpaid tax, they settle ASAP, to avoid interest building up and increasing the chances of a fine. In November, it was reported she still hadn't paid the tax owned on her Purchase which was done in the Summer. Rayner was reported to believe it was HMRC who needed to send her a bill. It doesn't work like that. It was due 14 days after completion. Perhaps she hoped, like last time, that she would get away with it.

How can this person be fit to run the country?

I'm sure if she replaced Sir Kier, she would immediately call a general election given how loud she was about Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak needing to when they took over.

The money was due in May or June at the very latest.

I'm sure c@ck on a bike can show evidence that she has now settled the Bill?

sources say she hasn't paid even now:

One Labour MP on the Left of the party said they were unsure whether they would back her for the leadership while the HMRC investigation was ongoing. “I worry about the outstanding tax she apparently owes,” they told The Telegraph, adding that she would have to explain the situation to win their support.

Backbenchers said that while Ms Rayner would be likely to win any contest, it would be difficult for her to stand until her tax bill was settled.

She is also said to harbour concerns about how the public would perceive her running for the leadership with the investigation hanging over her. One MP said: “She could win the members. However, I don’t see how she can be a candidate until she’s paid. A lot of the wider party would love her to stand.”
