Buying a 2nd hand car instead of an EV

Yes and when we break down we will tip some lecric into a can
Ok I'll spell it out...

If you break down, you need the car fixing, not fuelling

If you run out of fuel, you're far more likely to be near a socket than a petrol station

There's a lot less to go wrong with an EV, so you're less likely to break down

Break down services generally carry portable chargers

EV's are pretty good at both telling you what the charge level is, and where the nearest charger is

Running out of fuel, depends a lot more on you than on the vehicle ( though on reflection I've run out of diesel a couple of times, but never run out of battery charge)

...and then there are these new fangled things called 'cables'

I don't care enough for it to be spelt out to me....

Ive been driving petrol amd diesel cars for years and never ran out of fuel so I'll stick with that.

Think on

Think on

Last time I ran out of fuel, was because I was stoney student, in the 60's, and struggling to make do. My car now, calculates the fuel range in my tank, full it manages 600 - 800, and it nags me if it needs topping up. It has only once got to the point of even nagging.

Think of just towing to a field, in the UK - where, how do you recharge?

Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could unhitch the car from the towed thing and take the car somewhere to refuel it..

Oh, I can't remember if I was making that point about an EV or an ICE

I was probably making it about an ICE, because a field is more likely to have an electricity hookup than a petrol station..

Then you would be guessing wrong.
A mobility scooter doesn't count for this argument, btw

Are you asserting that EVs don't tell you how much fuel/range you have left, nor tell you where the nearest refuelling options are?

Hmm.. You've changed my mind. I will never buy an EV

Tom Hanks in castaway would have been screwed with an EV
